  • Patent number: 11091588
Abstract: Clickable waterborne polymers, click crosslinking of waterborne polymers, click crosslinked waterborne polymers, clickable functional compounds, and click functionalized waterborne polymers are presented. For example, the waterborne polymers have pendant groups bearing alkyne and/or azide groups and alkyne. For example, the functionalized azide-containing functional compounds such as antimicrobial or infrared-refractive compounds. The click crosslinking of clickable waterborne polymers or polymer mixtures, and the click conjugation of clickable waterborne polymers with clickable functional compounds such as clickable antimicrobial or infrared-refractive compounds, which resulted in functional waterborne polymers with antimicrobial or infrared-refractive functions, are presented.

  • Publication number: 20200254136
Abstract: An adhesive composition described herein comprises an aqueous solvent; and a population of first nanoparticles dispersed in the aqueous solvent, the first nanoparticles comprising a negative or positive charge, and an average size in three dimensions of 1 nm to 1000 nm. In some embodiments, a population of second nanoparticles is dispersed in the aqueous solvent, the second nanoparticles comprises a negative or positive charge opposite the charge of the population of first nanoparticles. In some embodiments, the population of first nanoparticles comprise an average first size in three dimensions, and the population of second nanoparticles comprise an average second size in three dimensions that is different from the average first size of the first nanoparticles.

  • Patent number: 10172974
Abstract: In one aspect, compositions are described herein. In some embodiments, a composition described herein comprises the reaction product of (i) an alkoxylated or alkenoxylated citric acid, citrate, or ester of citric acid, and optionally a non-alkoxylated and non-alkenoxylated citric acid, citrate, or ester of citric acid, with (ii) a polyol. Additionally, in some cases, a composition described herein comprises the reaction product of (i) and (ii) above and (iii) one or more additional monomers. In some cases, the composition is cross-linked by the use of one or more oxidants such as sodium periodate (NaIO4) and/or silver nitrate (AgNO3), which can be reduced into a reduced oxidant that provides short-term antimicrobial activity. Such a composition can have both short-term and long-term antibiotic and antifungal activity.

  • Patent number: 10106647
Abstract: In one aspect, compositions are described herein. In some embodiments, a composition described herein comprises the reaction product of (i) citric acid, a citrate, or an ester of citric acid with (ii) a polyol, and (iii) a monomer comprising one or more alkyne moieties and/or azide moieties. The reaction product, in some instances, comprises a polymer. Further, in some cases, a composition described herein comprises a plurality of polymers. In some embodiments, the polymers are selected to be reactive with one another through a click chemistry reaction scheme to form a polymer network. In another aspect, medical implants and medical devices are described herein, the implants and devices comprising a polymer or polymer network described herein.
