  • Publication number: 20170254665
Abstract: A system configured to receive baseline map data from a remote map-data source, and determine whether the baseline map data is sufficient for present mobile navigation-unit function, yielding a map-sufficiency determination. If the map-sufficiency determination is affirmative, using the baseline map data for the present mobile navigation-unit function. If the map-sufficiency determination is negative, the system predicts navigation-unit movement, obtains based on the navigation-unit movement predicted, supplemental map data, and uses the baseline map data and the supplemental map data for the present mobile navigation-unit function.

  • Patent number: 9475500
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for participative sensing of road friction conditions by vehicles, collection of the friction data from a large number of vehicles by a central server, processing the data to classify friction conditions by roadway and locale, and sending notifications of the friction conditions to vehicles as appropriate. A large number of vehicles use participative sensing systems to identify road friction estimates which are reported to the central server—where the vehicles use sensor data and vehicle dynamic conditions to estimate friction. The central server stores and aggregates the friction data, filters it and ages it. Vehicles requesting advisories from the central server will receive notices of road friction conditions which may be significant based on their location and heading. Driver warnings can be issued for low friction conditions ahead, and automated vehicle systems may also respond to the notices.

  • Publication number: 20080282013
Abstract: A method for transmission service using backplane service buses comprises the following steps: the service received from backplane interface is distributed into different services; the first backplane service bus and the second backplane service bus in the uplink interface of the backplane transmit the different services simultaneously; the first backplane service bus and the second backplane service bus in the downlink interface of the backplane transmit the different services simultaneously. A device for transmission service using backplane service buses comprises the first service board, the second service board, the first cross board, the second cross board and a service distributing unit. The service distributing unit is used to distribute the received service into different services, and control the first and second service boards to transmit the distributed different service to the first cross board and the second cross board simultaneously via different backplane service buses.
