  • Patent number: 6787487
Abstract: The present invention provides a highly durable, moisture-permeable, waterproof material that is high in moisture-permeability and waterproofness and able to achieve good adhesion with such a coat layer as moisture-permeable, water-resistant layer and with such a fibrous structural material as fabric, and a method for the production thereof. The moisture-permeable, waterproof material of the invention comprises a moisture-permeable, water-resistant layer, a fibrous structural material, and a water-swellable adhesive layer interposed between the former two to adhere them together, wherein the surfaces of the single fibers comprising said fibrous structural material are coated with a pre-treating agent containing a polyhydric compound as main component, said fibrous structural material and said water-swellable adhesive layer being adhered via the pre-treating agent.

  • Patent number: 6074964
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a fabric exhibiting excellent hygroscopicity, pliable handling touch and shape memory. An aspect of the present invention for achieving the foregoing object lies in a fabric comprising cellulose fibers, wherein hydrophilic vinyl monomers are graft-polymerized with the cellulose fibers, and the ratio B/W of bending rigidity (B) measured by KES (Kawabata Evaluation System) and weight (W) is 0.0001 or higher and 0.005 or lower.Another aspect of the present invention lies in a fabric comprising the cellulose fibers and polyester fibers.A still further aspect of the present invention lies in a fabric comprising cellulose fibers, wherein the percentage of laundry shrinkage is 3% or lower and the ratio B/W of bending rigidity (B) measured by KES and weight (W) is 0.0001 or higher and 0.005 or lower.

  • Patent number: 5913972
Abstract: An aqueous pigment dispersion is formed of a pigment, an aqueous medium and a dispersant resin. The dispersant resin contains a hydrophobic moiety and a hydrophilic moiety in its molecule. The hydrophobic moiety is a polyester linkage chain formed of ester linkages as primary linkages. The hydrophilic moiety is a water-soluble resin containing sulfonic groups or their salts. The water-soluble resin can be produced, for example, by reacting a polyol with maleic acid and/or fumaric acid to synthesize an unsaturated polyester resin and then adding acid sulfurous acid or its salt to the unsaturated polyester resin to form groups represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein M.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, an ammonium group or a lower aliphatic quaternary ammonium group. The aqueous pigment dispersion is useful as a water-based ink for writing or recording equipments such as writing instruments, printers, copying machines, fax machines and printing machines.

  • Patent number: 5773372
Abstract: The present invention provides a coated polyester fiber fabric, produced by coating a polyester fiber structure dyed by a disperse dye, with a resin, comprising an organic peroxide in said coating resin. The present invention also presents a coated polyester fiber fabric, produced by coating a polyester fiber structure dyed by a disperse dye, with a resin, comprising aromatic rings in said coating resin. The present invention furthermore presents a process for preparing a coated polyester fiber fabric, comprising the step of coating a polyester fiber structure dyed by a disperse dye, with a resin solution containing an organic peroxide. The coated polyester fiber fabric of the present invention has excellent fastness against dye migration and staining, and washing durability. On the other hand, the process of the present invention allows said coated fabric to be very simply and stably produced without using any special apparatus, and hence is industrially very effective.

  • Patent number: 5071234
Abstract: A polarization film which has excellent polarizing ability and resistance to moisture and heat is described. The polarization film includes an oriented polyvinyl-alcohol-type film having iodine adsorbed thereon, and contains a zirconium compound or a manganese compound. The zirconium compound or the manganese compound is thought to prevent dissociation of a polyiodide ion such as I.sub.3.sup.- or I.sub.5.sup.- capable of providing the polarizing ability. The polarization film of the invention may be suitable for use in a variety of liquid crystal displays, including those which are used in severe environments, such as automotive display devices, and in ordinary household devices, for example word processors.
