    Abstract: A swash type compressor includes sleeves which are fixedly fitted in cylinder bores. The lengths of the sleeves in an axial direction are greater than the lengths of the cylinder bores in the axial direction. A sleeve end of each of the sleeves is flush with an end surface of a cylinder block defining the cylinder bores. The opposite sleeve end of the sleeve extends beyond the cylinder bore and away from the opposite end surface of the cylinder block.

    Abstract: A swash plate-type, variable displacement compressor according to the present invention has a structure wherein the shoe holding portion of the piston sandwiches the swash plate from inside. The swash plate is connected to the rotor by a pin which extends in a direction tangential to a surface of a virtual cylinder around an axis of the drive shaft so as to be capable of swinging with respect to the pin. Especially, the position of the pin in the axial direction of the drive shaft is selected, so that a piston top clearance of a piston which is in a top dead center position becomes zero. By this configuration, the piston top clearance of all the pistons may be maintained at zero for all oblique angles of the swash plate. As a result, for any oblique angle, the volumetric efficiency of the compressor may be improved.

    Abstract: A swash plate-type compressor includes a cylinder block having a plurality of cylinder bores formed therethrough, a drive shaft rotatably supported by the cylinder block, and a swash plate rotatably mounted on the drive shaft. The compressor also includes a plurality of pistons, each of which is positioned within one of the cylinder bores and reciprocates within the cylinder bore. Each of the pistons includes a substantially semispherical cavity formed at an end of the piston. The compressor further includes a pair of shoes positioned between each of the pistons and the swash plate. Each shoe includes a substantially flat surface adapted to be in slidable contact with the swash plate, and a substantially semispherical portion adapted to rotatably engage the semispherical cavity of the piston. Moreover, the semispherical portion of the shoe includes a saddle portion or a groove having a first curved portion and a non-circular perimeter.

    Abstract: A swash plate-type, variable displacement compressor according to the present invention has a structure wherein the shoe holding portion of the piston sandwiches the swash plate from inside.     Abstract: A communication connecting device includes a data storage to which data read by a scanner are written. A packetizer packetizes the data read out of the data storage in accordance with a packet size fed from a size information storage. A rate controller counts a period of time after the start of packet transmission or a period of time consumed to send a preselected number of packets. The rate controller calculates a communication rate on the basis of the above period of time and the number of packets sent, and then compares the communication rate with a communication rate assigned to a receiving terminal and defined by a Recommendation T.30 protocol. The rate controller allows the packets to be sent only if the calculated communication rate is lower than the communication rate of the receiving terminal.

    Abstract: A scroll-type compressor includes a fixed and an orbiting scroll each having an end plate. A ball coupling means preventing the orbiting scroll from rotating, includes a first race and a second race and a plurality of balls. The balls are engaged between ball rolling grooves on the first race and ball rolling grooves on the second race. Each of an interior circular portion and an exterior circular portion of the first race and the second race is connected to the orbiting scroll and the front housing. Each of a clearance is created between the first race and the orbiting scroll, and between the second race and the front housing. The structure for the scroll-type compressor according to this invention may reduce the number of parts compared to known scroll-type compressor, and may maintain stability of an orbital motion of an orbiting scroll, when thrust load is high.

An anti-wear plate member is disposed in the inner surface of the end plate of at least one of the scroll members and extends from a first place adjacent the radial center of the end plate to a second place positioned radially and spirally inward of the outer terminal end of the spiral wrap element of the scroll member. An axial gap is formed between the radial center of the inner surface of the end plate of the scroll member and the radial inner end of the spiral wrap element of the opposite scroll member. The radial inner end of the spiral wrap element of one scroll member is thereby prevented from contact with the radial center of the inner surface of the end plate of the other scroll member.

A driving mechanism is operatively connected to one of the scrolls to effect relative orbital motion with respect to the other scrolls to thereby change the volume of the fluid pockets. The spiral element of each scroll member has a stepped cross-section. As a result, the mechanical strength of the spiral elements of the scroll member of the fluid displacement apparatus is increased and the fluid displacement apparatus has increased durability and efficiency.

Therefore, the movable scroll is positioned relative to the main shaft. In addition, the movable scroll defines fluid pockets in cooperation with a fixed scroll (25) therebetween. When the orbital motion of the movable scroll is caused in dependence on rotation of the main shaft with inhibiting rotation of the movable scroll around the predetermined axis, the fluid pockets are displaced between the movable and the fixed scrolls.

The scroll type fluid displacement further comprises a fixed ring assembly attached to the housing, including a fixed ring fastened to an inner surface of the housing facing the orbiting ring of the orbiting assembly. Each of the fixed and orbiting rings have a plurality of corresponding pockets, each pocket on the fixed ring facing a pocket on the orbiting ring of approximately the same size, pitch, and radial distance, and at least one opening formed in each of said fixed and orbiting rings.
