  • Patent number: 11264059
Abstract: An electrical feed-through, such as a PCB connector, involves at least one positioning protrusion protruding from a main body, and may further include multiple positioning protrusions protruding in respective directions from the main body. A data storage device employing such a feed-through includes an enclosure base with which the feed-through is coupled. The base includes an annular recessed surface surrounding an aperture that is encompassed by the feed-through and is at a first level, and at least one recessed positioning surface at a higher level than the first level, and extending in a direction away from the annular recessed surface. The positioning protrusion of the electrical feed-through contacts the recessed positioning surface of the base, such that the position of the feed-through is constrained by the recessed positioning surface.

  • Patent number: 7944644
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention effectively control utilizing a spoiler, the windage vibration of a magnetic head caused by the airflow generated in accordance with rotation of a magnetic disk, while reducing the dust flowing in on the downstream side of the spoiler. According to one embodiment, a spoiler is provided with wings facing a plurality of magnetic disks and a supporting section for the wings is disposed on the upstream side of a head stack assembly in the airflow direction in accordance with the rotation of the magnetic disks. Further, the wings each extend in a direction from the outer circumferences of the magnetic disks towards the spindle shaft while reducing the width of the wing, and is formed to have the width of the wing in a range of 2.7% through 2.9% of the circumferential length of the magnetic disks in a range of two thirds of the length of the wing in a direction towards the spindle shaft from a region located at the outer circumferences of the magnetic disks.

  • Patent number: 7597165
Abstract: In response to the driver's gearshift operation from a parking position to a drive position, the control procedure of the invention controls a motor connected to a transmission to output a center adjustment torque Tset, while the transmission is in a state of disconnecting the motor from an axle of a hybrid vehicle. The control procedure adjusts the rotation centers of respective rotational elements in the transmission by rotating the respective rotational elements, and then initiates gradual engagement of a brake to set the transmission in a low gear position. This arrangement desirably retains deviation of the rotation centers of the respective rotational elements in the transmission and prevents potential troubles due to the eccentric rotation centers of the respective rotational elements in the transmission.

  • Patent number: 7582980
Abstract: A drive apparatus for a hybrid vehicle is provided with a first motor generator, a power splitting mechanism portion, and a second motor generator. The first motor generator functions mainly as a generator. The power splitting mechanism portion divides the power generated by the engine into power for the first motor generator and power for driven wheels. The second motor generator has an outside diameter that is smaller than the outside diameter of the first motor generator and is arranged on the side of the first motor generator opposite the engine. Further, a speed reducing mechanism portion which has an outside diameter smaller than the outside diameter of the second motor generator and which reduces the rotation speed of the second motor generator is provided on the side of the second motor generator opposite the engine.

  • Patent number: 7535672
Abstract: The positioning accuracy of a magnetic head decreases due to vibrations in the in-plane rotation mode of an HDD, which are caused by couple or disturbance occurring in seek operation, due to vibrations in the thrust mode, and the conical mode, of the spindle, which are caused by disturbance, and due to vibrations in the case thrust mode, the spindle fall mode, and the like. In one embodiment, an elastic support member includes a pillar-shaped part. The elastic support member is provided with a recess on a surface opposite to a corner of a base, and longitudinal fin projections on the upper and lower sides with respect to the recess. The base is provided at its corner with a horizontal fin that is parallel to a disk surface. The horizontal fin is inserted into the recess of the elastic support member. The longitudinal fin projections come into contact with the base, and control basic vibrational characteristics on both the upper and lower sides with respect to the horizontal fin.
