  • Patent number: 7620340
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member which bears a toner image, a transfer member which transfers the toner image on the image bearing member to a transfer material, a cleaning blade which is brought into contact with and separated from the image bearing member and which removes transfer remaining toner remaining on the image bearing member where the toner image is transferred; and executing means which executes a toner cleaning mode such that the cleaning blade is brought into contact with and separated from the image bearing member so as not to remove a part of the transfer remaining toner remaining on the image bearing member, and then the cleaning blade having been separated from the image bearing member contacts the part of the transfer remaining toner remaining on the image bearing member when the cleaning blade again is brought into contact with the image bearing member.

  • Patent number: 7596331
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an auxiliary charging member contacting an image bearing member and for being supplied with a bias of an identical polarity to a normal charge polarity of toner at a position downstream from a transfer portion where a transfer member is located and upstream from a charging portion where a charging member is located with respect to a rotation direction of the image bearing member. When rotation of the image bearing member is stopped and then resumed, application of a toner transfer bias to the transfer member is started before a contact position between the image bearing member and the auxiliary charging member during the rotation stop of the image bearing member first reaches the transfer portion.

  • Patent number: 7277653
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a development unit, a transfer member, and a blade member. The development unit develops a latent image on an image bearing member and forms a toner image. The transfer member transfers the toner image on the image bearing member to a transfer material. The blade member is brought into contact with and separated from the image bearing member, and the blade member removes remaining transfer toner which is not transferred to the transfer material but remains on the image bearing member. An abutting control unit causes the blade member in a separated state to abut onto the image bearing member during a time starting after a front end of the remaining transfer toner passes through the abutting region and ending when a rear end of the remaining transfer toner has passed through the abutting region.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a development unit, a transfer member, and a blade member. The development unit develops a latent image on an image bearing member and forms a toner image. The transfer member transfers the toner image on the image bearing member to a transfer material. The blade member is brought into contact with and separated from the image bearing member, and the blade member removes transfer remaining toner which is not transferred to the transfer material but remains on the image bearing member. In the image forming apparatus, the blade member in the separated state is caused to abut on an abutting toner image formed on the image bearing member.
