  • Publication number: 20240015495
Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with first and second receivers. Each receiver may include circuitry for receiving radio-frequency signals using a first radio access technology (RAT) and using second or additional RATs. The wireless circuitry may perform system selection in which the receivers attempt to acquire a signal transmitted by a base station using different RATs. The first receiver and the second receiver may concurrently perform system selection in which the first receiver performs a band scan over the first RAT while the second receiver concurrently performs a band scan over a second or additional RAT. Additional band scans may be performed as needed until a signal is acquired. Once a signal is acquired, the wireless circuitry may establish cellular communications with the wireless base station based on the acquired signal. This may minimize the amount of time required to begin cellular telephone communications in many situations.

  • Publication number: 20220394666
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) includes a first subscriber identification module (SIM) and a second SIM. The UE is configured to establish a first cellular network connection based on, at least, the first SIM and a second cellular network connection based on, at least, the second SIM. The UE detects a collision between i) multiple paging occasions or ii) multiple paging frames. The UE then initiates a procedure for updating a paging occasion for the first cellular network connection. The UE monitors for a page over the first cellular network connection during the paging occasion.

  • Patent number: 11212697
Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment (UE) device to adaptively enhance the quality of service (QoS) configuration of a bearer of communications conducted over a cellular network between a UE application and a server. The UE may use various information, including a QoS profile associated with the application, to determine requested QoS parameters and/or whether the UE is permitted to request or access enhanced QoS functionality. The UE may then send a request to the cellular network indicating the requested QoS parameters, and the network may adjust the QoS configuration of the bearer in response. The UE and the network may perform routine QoS measurements and exchange information in order to adaptively maintain and optimize the QoS configuration. These techniques may tend to provide more appropriate QoS to the application, which may improve user experience.

  • Patent number: 11071035
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for performing radio link monitoring and cell searching when moving at high speeds. A movement speed of a wireless device may be determined. When performing a cell search, the manner of the cell search may depend on the movement speed of the wireless device, potentially including cells that are associated with high movement speed being more highly prioritized when the wireless device is determined to be at a higher movement speed than when the wireless device is determined to be at a lower movement speed.
