The first viewport displays an active application, a second viewport displays a toolbar including one or more icons that indicate applications that are available for interactions, and a third viewport displays a toolbar including one or more cross-application tools. Upon receiving a selection of a cross-application tool in the third viewport, an action associated with the selected cross-application tool is performed for at least one of the one or more indicated applications in the second viewport, and results of the action are overlaid in the first viewport.
