  • Patent number: 8731004
Abstract: A method of and a network controller (304) for recognizing an out-of-sync BS in a TDD based cellular communication network is provided. The method comprises the steps of receiving information reported by one or more BSs having uplink interference from the out-of-sync BS (414), and locating the out-of-sync BS based on the information (416). A BS and an NMS for use with the above network controller (304) and a TDD based cellular communication network comprising at least the above network controller (304) and the above BS (306-1, 306-2, . . . , 306-n) are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110274014
Abstract: The present application pertains to a dual mode radio base station that is operable to operate in either a TDD mode of operation or an FDD mode of operation. The dual mode base station may include a base-band unit (BU) and a radio unit (RU). The base-band unit may include (1) a first set of components each of which is configured to provide functionally while (a) the dual mode base station is operating in the FDD mode of operation and (b) the dual mode base station is operating in the TDD mode of operation; and (2) a second set of components each of which is configured to provide functionally (a) only while the dual mode base station is operating in the FDD mode of operation or (b) only while the dual mode base station is operating in the TDD mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 8055300
Abstract: Devices and methods to use base stations to communicate with user equipment (UE) terminals in an indoor setting are disclosed. For example, user equipments such as mobile telephone devices may be used in a building with multiple floors. The building may be supplied with antenna elements organized into antenna groups with each group serving an area of the building—a floor for example. The base station, utilizing the antenna groups, communicates with the UE terminals via one or more radio resources. The base station manages radio resources to communicate with multiple UE terminals. The base station selectively activates and deactivates the antenna groups to reduce multiple access interference and to efficiently utilize the radio resources.

  • Publication number: 20100074127
Abstract: In a base station and a mobile station the pilot signal power in all carriers are combined for example by using an MRC (Maximum Ratio Combination) algorithm. Physical layer measurement such as Up-Link Synchronization and Angle of Arrival (AoA) are performed based on the combined received signal. The method results in that the measurement errors can be significantly reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100034175
Abstract: In a method and system, the controller unit of a cellular radio system is fed with information relating to the cell pattern and the location of subscribers. The controller unit can use such information to improve radio resource algorithms and thereby generate a better evaluation and allocation on radio resources aiming at decreasing the interference in the air-interface and at generating more accurate handover decision so that the performance of the overall network is improved.
