  • Publication number: 20030214240
Abstract: A contrast-adjustable display via an organic light-emitting device includes a transparent substrate, a light-detectable unit, a current-detectable unit, an organic light-emitting unit, a driving unit and a controlling unit. The light-detectable unit for detecting an external light intensity is formed on the transparent substrate, and then generates a current intensity based on the external light intensity. The current-detectable unit for detecting the current intensity is connected to the light-detectable unit. The organic light-emitting unit is formed on the transparent substrate for generating light. The driving unit connects to and drives the light-detectable unit and organic light-emitting unit, respectively. The controlling unit is connected to the current-detectable unit, and controls the driving unit depending on the current intensity. The invention also discloses a contrast-adjustable display via an organic light-emitting device further including a first driving unit and a second driving unit.

  • Publication number: 20030205971
Abstract: An organic light-emitting diode device with a function of lateral light utilization. The device includes a transparent substrate, a first electrode, at least one organic light-emitting layer, a second electrode, and a wave-guide layer. In this case, the first electrode is formed on the transparent substrate, the organic light-emitting layer is formed on the first electrode, and the second electrode is formed on the organic light-emitting layer. The wave-guide layer is adjacent to the transparent substrate, and the wave-guide layer and the transparent substrate are located at the same layer in the organic light-emitting diode device. Furthermore, the invention also discloses a device with information display and back-light effect, which includes a light emitter and a wave-guide element. The wave-guide element transmits lateral light of the light-emitter outward, and the outputted lateral light is used as a light source.

  • Patent number: 6608333
Abstract: An organic light emitting diode (OLED) device. The OLED device comprises a transparent substrate, a plurality of anodes, an organic functional layer, a black layer and a plurality of cathodes. The anodes are positioned over a transparent substrate. The organic function layer is positioned over the transparent substrate covering the anodes. The black layer is positioned over the organic functional layer and the cathodes are positioned over the black layer. Through the black layer, the amount of back reflection of external light is reduced and the contrast of the display device is increased.
