  • Patent number: 9420599
Abstract: A mobile communications device is provided. A first radio module communicates with a communications device in compliance with a first protocol. A second radio module communicates with a base station in compliance with a second protocol. A CLC radio manager receives a traffic pattern from the first radio module indicating a first traffic allocation for the first radio module, obtains timing information of the base station, obtains a native reference clock from a clock source, converts values of the traffic pattern into the native reference clock counts, aligns the converted traffic pattern with the timing information of the base station, generates one or more CLC bitmaps for the first radio module by converting the aligned traffic pattern into a plurality of WiMAX frames or sub-frames of the timing information, and transmits the generated CLC bitmaps to the base station to recommend a second traffic allocation of the frames or sub-frames.

  • Patent number: 8718037
Abstract: An apparatus (and related method) coordinates wireless communication operations for coexisted wireless communication modules. The apparatus includes a packet traffic arbitration (PTA) module coupled between a first wireless communication module and a second wireless communication module, granting the first request requesting for a first wireless communication operation with a first priority in a first time period from the first wireless communication module, receiving a second request requesting for a second wireless communication operation with a second priority from the second wireless communication module when the granted first wireless communication operation is not finished. In operation, the first wireless communication operation interferes with the second wireless communication operation, the PTA module granting the second request and informing the first wireless communication module to take back the granted first request when the second priority is higher than the first priority.

  • Patent number: 8199709
Abstract: A method for operating an electronic device using a first and a second communication protocols is provided. The electronic device includes an arbitrator to determine whether to communicate in accordance with the first or second communication protocol. The method estimates a period for transmitting a trigger frame by the electronic device, a period for receiving a first acknowledgement (ACK) frame by the electronic device, a period of a backoff procedure, a period for receiving a predetermined number of delivered frames by the electronic device, and a period of transmitting a second ACK frame by the electronic device. All the above estimated periods are added to be a predetermined time period. The trigger frame is transmitted to initiate the electronic device to communicate in accordance with the first communication protocol. • Patent number: 7924795
Abstract: The invention provides a method for operating an apparatus capable of Bluetooth and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)/WiMAX communications. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a Bluetooth module, and a WLAN/WiMAX unit comprising a packet traffic arbitration (PTA) module, and a WLAN/WiMAX module. The Bluetooth module sends a request for Bluetooth signal transceiving to be performed in a Bluetooth time slot to the WLAN/WiMAX unit, wherein the request comprises a length information about length of a transceiving time period for Bluetooth signal transceiving. The Bluetooth module then performs an Bluetooth signal transceiving during the transceiving time period of the Bluetooth time slot after the WLAN/WiMAX unit grants the request. The WLAN/WiMAX unit then performs an WLAN/WiMAX signal transceiving during a residual time period of the Bluetooth time slot in response to the length information.

  • Patent number: 7546404
Abstract: A method and apparatus for traffic arbitration in a system are provided. In the system, a first module operating in a first protocol and a second module operating in a second protocol share one communication channel. An arbitration circuit schedules medium accesses thereof, in which a quota table maintains a utilization value updated in accordance with the amount of time slots consumed by a particular traffic type, and a time counter periodically resets the utilization value to a default value. When the arbitration circuit receives a request for medium access of the particular traffic type, the arbitration circuit grants the request according to the utilization value, such that the first module or the second module are not activated at the same time.
