  • Patent number: 7032714
Abstract: Disclosed is a return mechanism for elevator escape device. The return mechanism mounted at a wall of a car and comprises a drive sheave, upper and lower secondary sheaves, a wheel coaxially disposed with the drive sheave and located on an inner wall of the car, a lever including a lower pivot end, a positioning bar, an upper end at the drive sheave, and a groove, a link having one end defined by the groove and a roller at the other end, a support for permitting the link to slide therethrough, a catch, and projecting return members. In a case of car failure, a trapped passenger is able to continuously rotate the wheel for escape in which the mechanism can automatically return to its original position by moving the link backward after the roller contacting the return member.

  • Patent number: 6966409
Abstract: Backup power device for an elevator comprises a brake including a brake controller and a manual brake rod, a damping assembly including a roller at one end of a lever, and a wheel having alternate recesses and risers, an electro-magnetic controller having a control rod, a pulley having a rope run through the manual brake rod and the control rod, an electro-magnetic brake actuator, and a backup power supply. A passenger trapped in the car can pull down the rope in case of the failure of the electro-magnetic controller, the electro-magnetic brake actuator, and the backup power supply as the lever turns to cause the roller to contact the recess or the riser. The lever moves intermittently to cause the manual brake rod to activate the brake controller for braking and releasing a motor shaft again in intervals. Eventually, the passenger can escape.

  • Patent number: 6739431
Abstract: An escape device of elevator. The device includes an activation assembly comprising sheaves, rope, links, flexible board, roller, guide, limit member, bar, and catch; and an operation assembly comprising sheaves, ropes, links rotating disk, weight, cylinder having a wall aperture, and spring depressible shaft. In case of emergency a manual rotation of the sheave will cause the shaft to remove a support to the weight in the cylinder by retracting from the aperture. Hence, the weight begins to fall to pull the rope. Eventually, an elevator door is opened automatically. The invention can also be configured to facilitate an operation by the handicapped.

  • Patent number: 6516921
Abstract: A manual brake release control structure having a linking member cooperates with an escape and protection mechanism for an elevator to protect an emergently braked elevator cab against inertial slip during brake release. By pulling an escape pulling cable outside the cab with a normal force, the braked cab is released to move and rotate a rotary shaft of a driving motor of the elevator. The rotary shaft in rotating causes a cam connected thereto to rotate and thereby reciprocates the linking member up and down that in turn causes an actuating arm and a flexible long member to repeatedly release and depress a braking device of the elevator, so that the cab is intermittently braked and released to move upward or downward at a reduced safety speed.

  • Patent number: 6464043
Abstract: An elevator emergency escape device is activated by mechanical failure, power outage, an earthquake, fire, etc. When the device is triggered by a passenger breaking a cover over an emergency button and pressing the button, the device plays a voice message that informs all the passengers of the situation. The brake is released, and the elevator cab is aligned with the nearest floor, unless the situation dictates a predetermined floor at a different level. The elevator cab can be moved by backup electrical systems, or by manual operation. The device includes the voice message, a braille system for blind passengers, and a lifting device for handicapped persons.

  • Publication number: 20020125076
Abstract: An elevator emergency escape device is disclosed. When the elevator breaks down by a mechanical failure, a power outage, an earth quake or a fire, the elevator passengers are informed by a voice message and then the windows is opened. After one passenger pulls down the controlling cable via the window, the brake will be released by the back-up power supply. So, the elevator cab will be aligned with a closest floor. This elevator cab not only can be moved by an electrical system but also by a manual operation. The elevator cab further comprises a voice device for providing the voice message, braille for blind persons, and a lifting activator for handicapped persons. And, an emergency button with a protective cover is disposed so as to allow one can break the protective cover to press down the emergency button so that the elevator cab's door will be aligned with a closest floor and then opened. When it is on fire, the elevator cab will be moved to a preset emergency escape floor for escape.
