  • Patent number: 10561563
Abstract: A link extends between a distal member and a proximal member of a wearable device, such as an exoskeleton, orthosis or prosthesis for a human lower limb. One or other of the distal member and the proximal member includes a crossing member. The link extends from the crossing member of the distal member or the proximal member, to the other of the distal member or the proximal member. Actuation of the link translates to a force at the distal or proximal member that is normal to a major longitudinal axis extending through the distal and proximal members. In one embodiment, a sliding link of a device configured for use with a human joint tracks two degrees of freedom of the joint.

  • Publication number: 20170348176
Abstract: A mechanical transmission, tethered actuation system, an autonomous ankle exoskeleton design and method of their use employing a cable, pulleys and associated pulley housings to change angular transmission of linear force on the cable. The pulleys are linked by a ground link and the cable is threaded across and between the pulleys, whereby rotation of either of the pulleys in one direction causes rotation of the other pulley in the opposite direction. Independently of the pulleys, the pulley housings can freely rotate about associated pulleys, and a link between the pulley housings is provided, whereby rotation of one of the pulley housings in one direction causes rotation of the other pulley housing at an equivalent angle in the opposite direction, thereby enabling a change in transmission angle of linear force on the cable threaded across and between the pulleys and the associated pulley housing essentially without resistance.

  • Patent number: 9498401
Abstract: A robotic system for simulating a wearable device actuation delivery mechanism and the source removed from the actuation delivery mechanism that is linked to the actuation delivery mechanism by at least one cable. A sensing system detects a physiological feature of the subject and, based on feedback from the sensing system, a control system linked to both the sensing system and the actuation source modulates the actuation source, and thereby modulating actuation of the joint of a subject in response to the physiological future sensed by the sensing system. A method for simulating a wearable robotic system employs the robotic system of the invention to thereby provide a model on which to base design of an ambulatory prosthetic for a subject.

  • Publication number: 20110148017
Abstract: The present invention provides an adjusting device. It is used a adjusting unit to be set in advance if a stiffness demanded is known and to adjust appropriately if the stiffness demanded is unknown or changed. A changed stiffness system which can be actively or passively adjusted can be achieved by the adjusted device. Based on the above conception, the adjusting device includes a first resilient unit and the adjusting unit, wherein the first resilient unit has a characteristic gap between one end thereof and the adjusting unit. In addition, the adjusting device further includes a connecting resilient unit, wherein the length thereof is a sum of lengths of the first resilient unit and the characteristic gap. It is the present invention to adjust the length of the characteristic gap by the adjusting unit to adjust the stiffness of the adjusting device.
