  • Publication number: 20040215144
Abstract: A dual port syringe has an upper port for connection to a fluid reservoir and a lower port for delivery of the medical fluid under pressure to a patient. A first valve is connected between the fluid reservoir and the upper port, and second valve is connected between the lower port and the patient. During a fill operation, a piston is moved within the syringe to drawn fluid from the reservoir into the syringe through the upper port. During injection operation, the piston moves in an opposite direction to force fluid out of the syringe through the lower port.

  • Publication number: 20040133165
Abstract: An angiographic injector system includes a manifold and valve which selectively connects either a syringe pump or a low pressure system to a catheter which is inserted into a patient. The valve is normally biased to a state which connects the low pressure system to the catheter for pressure monitoring, saline flushing, or aspirating functions. When an injection is to be made, the valve automatically switches so that the low pressure system is disconnected and not exposed to high pressure, while the syringe pump is connected through the manifold to the catheter.

  • Patent number: 6656157
Abstract: An angiographic injector system includes a manifold and valve which selectively connects either a syringe pump or a low pressure system to a catheter which is inserted into a patient. The valve is normally biased to a state which connects the low pressure system to the catheter for pressure-monitoring, saline flushing, or aspirating functions. When an injection is to be made, the valve automatically switches so that the low pressure system is disconnected and not exposed to high pressure, while the syringe pump is connected through the manifold to the catheter.

  • Patent number: 6626862
Abstract: Devices that detect and monitor components and fluid used with an injector system, such as an angiographic injector system, are disclosed. The devices may include mechanical, electrical or software based indexing or keying features to ensure that only compatible components are used on the system. In addition, these devices may also be used to track and/or monitor fluid volume and use during various injection procedures. Single use and multiple use components, conveniently supplied in kits, may also be tracked and/or monitored by the devices of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20030028144
Abstract: An angiographic injector system and a method of controllably delivering medical fluid to a patient from an angiographic injector system are disclosed. A multiple processor control system is used to actively control the injection process and to monitor sensed functions of the system. The multiple processors provide dual redundancy safety circuits for critical control functions such as syringe motor drive speed and current. A motor/servo-amplifier nested control function is also disclosed. A unique method and apparatus are disclosed for establishing injection parameter default values just prior to an injection procedure that are based on physiological values of the patient to be treated. The injector system uses an interactive display panel that presents sequenced set-up screens to the user and which enables the user to select injection procedures, parameters and other modes of operation directly through the interactive panel.

  • Patent number: 5573515
Abstract: An angiographic injector includes a syringe which is connected to a fluid reservoir through a valve which permits radiographic contrast material to be drawn from the reservoir into the syringe during a fill operation. The valve permits air to be expelled from the syringe through the valve during a purge operation, but blocks flow of contrast material from the syringe back to the fluid reservoir. During an injection, the valve blocks flow of contrast material back to the fluid reservoir while the contrast fluid is being delivered under pressure from the syringe to a patient.
