  • Publication number: 20210044221
Abstract: There is provided an energy harvester for harvesting energy from broadband ambient vibrations comprising: a bi-stable oscillator, a subsidiary oscillator mechanically coupled to the bi-stable oscillator; wherein the bi-stable oscillator has a snap through frequency, ?snap, as a result of the ambient vibrations, and wherein the subsidiary oscillator exhibits resonance when driven at a frequency of ?snap; and at least one transducer coupled either to the bi-stable oscillator or to the subsidiary oscillator. This arrangement allows for resonant vibrational energy harvesting for be achieved over a broadband of input vibration frequencies.

  • Patent number: 10677616
Abstract: A system and method for distributed dynamic strain measurement using optical fiber that is based on Brillouin optical time-domain reflectometry (BOTDR) with stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). A short-time Fourier transform (STFT) is used to rebuild the Brillouin frequency shift (BFS) of the SBS scattered signal to perform the dynamic strain measurement.

  • Patent number: 9871472
Abstract: An energy harvester is provided for harvesting energy, and in particular electrical energy from an input vibration such as an ambient vibration. The energy harvester comprises a first mechanical amplifier responsive to the input vibration and a second mechanical amplifier coupled to the first mechanical amplifier. At least one of the first and second mechanical amplifiers comprises a parametric resonator, and a power output of the energy harvester is generated by damping the second mechanical amplifier.

  • Patent number: 9261525
Abstract: The invention comprises an inertia! sensor comprising a frame, a proof mass; a first resonant element having a proximal end and a distal end, the first resonant element being fixed to the frame at its proximal end and coupled to the proof mass at its distal end, a second resonant element having a proximal end and a distal end, the second resonant element being fixed to the frame at its proximal end, adjacent to the first resonant element such that there is no coupling between the second resonant element and the proof mass, a means for coupling the first resonant element to the second resonant element; a drive means coupled to the first and second resonant elements for vibrating the first and second resonant elements; and a sensor assembly for detecting the amplitude of vibration of the resonant elements.
