  • Publication number: 20070134096
Abstract: According to the method, a blade is provided having at least one base for a rim at its free end, and the projecting portion of the rim is built up by depositing successive layers on the base by performing the following steps: activating a laser source connected to an optical head focused on a point of the surface of the top of the base and activating a powder source connected to a spray nozzle, whereby a localized melt is formed at said point, into which the powder is injected, thereby forming a localized region of extra thickness; and aiming the optical head and the nozzle on another point adjacent to said region of extra thickness and returning to the preceding step until a layer has been formed over substantially the entire base.

  • Publication number: 20070107807
Abstract: The invention relates to a metal component comprising at least a first zone treated by putting layers beneath the surface thereof in compression. It is characterized in that it comprises at least a first layer put in compression by shot peening and a deeper subjacent second layer put in compression by laser shock peening. The component may be a turbomachine blade. According to the method, said zone is firstly treated by prestress shot peening followed by compression treatment by laser shock peening.

  • Publication number: 20060292398
Abstract: Protecting the contacting surfaces of two metal parts subjected to relative movements. The method consists in covering at least one of said surfaces in a composite self-lubricating material constituted exclusively by particles of graphite distributed in a nickel matrix.

  • Patent number: 7128962
Abstract: A material that can be worn away by abrasion, and a method of making the same, includes a substantially oxide free metal alloy based on nickel or cobalt or a ceramic. The material further includes at least one of particles of solid lubricant, closed pores, or surface recesses. The material can be used to make parts, in particular plates, and casings, the inner surface of which is at least partially covered with plates of this material.

  • Patent number: 6890368
Abstract: The present invention provides: a material, which is dense, with a density of ?90%, bulk dry self-lubricating, with a coefficient of friction of <0.3, constituted by a matrix that endows it with suitable strength, with a Rm of ?400 MPa in a medium to high temperature range of 300° C.???600° C.; said matrix including particles of solid lubricant in its volume; mechanical parts formed from said material; a method of manufacturing said material.

  • Patent number: 6830428
Abstract: The coating of abradable material presents cavities opening out into the surface of the coating, the cavities extending over a fraction of the thickness of the coating and being defined by walls which form a plurality of continuous paths at the inside surface of the annular portion between the axial end faces thereof, and which form an angle of not less than 5° relative to the general direction of end portions of blades that might come into contact with the abradable material.

  • Patent number: 4069576
Abstract: A method and apparatus for fabricating reinforcing bands for strengthening arts to be subjected to high centrifugal stresses. The reinforcing bands are made of coiled wire with a high modulus of elasticity and with a matrix of light metal or light-metal alloy. The coil, hoop or blank so formed is compacted in a direction parallel to its axis under high pressure and heat by an annular metal ram in a mold or die consisting of a bottom member, an inner ring, and an outer ring which are constructed so that the blank or coil does not undergo any radial stresses.
