The device has a shaft, a blood flow blocking membrane at the first end of the shaft for blocking blood flow through the wound, and an abutment member that is mounted to the shaft and is axially movable along the shaft towards and away from the blood flow blocking membrane for abutting the wound and holding the blood flow blocking membrane adjacent the wound. The blood flow blocking membrane is resiliently flexible and movable between at least a first collapsed state for inserting the blood flow blocking membrane through the wound, and a deployed state for blocking blood flow through the wound.

Abstract: A tracheotomy device includes a head with a head proximal end and a head distal end. The head has a dilating member, and the dilating member has a first dilating member side piece and a second dilating member side piece. The dilating member is moveable between a closed configuration in which the first and second dilating member side pieces are adjacent, and an open configuration in which the first and second dilating member side pieces are spaced apart. The dilating member tapers in cross-sectional area going in a direction from the head proximal end to the head distal end. A sharp tip is at the head distal end. A gripping member is connected to the head proximal end, and is actuatable to move the dilating member between the closed configuration and the open configuration.

Abstract: An introducer/exchanger for a tracheostomy device includes a flexible elongate member having a proximal end, a rounded blunt distal end, and a lumen extending from a proximal opening at the proximal end to a distal opening at the distal end. A distally pointing light is mounted to the rounded blunt distal end. A power source is provided for the light.

Abstract: A suture guide includes a first part having a first base piece and a plurality of first needle portions joined to the first base piece. Each first needle portion has a respective first needle portion sidewall. The suture guide further includes a second part having a second base piece and a plurality of second needle portions joined to the second base piece. Each second needle portion has a respective second needle portion sidewall. The first part and second part are moveable between a separated configuration and a joined configuration. In the separated configuration, the first needle portions are spaced away from the second needle portions. At least one cinching device is connected to and extends between the connectors. The cinching device is positionable to extend over the incision when the connectors are positioned adjacent each other on opposed sides of the incision. The cinching device is adjustable to cinch the end portions towards each other to hold the incision in an at least partially closed position.
