  • Patent number: 6181486
Abstract: An optical architecture for an infrared vision system for binoculars or a camera. This system includes a front afocal, a scanner, an optical device forming an image of the scene and a cooled detector with cold stop. This architecture has an aperture stop which is seperate from the cold stop thereby causing varaitons in the structure flux over the extent of the detector. These varations are corrected by a suitable shape of the cold stop which smooths out the photometric inefficiency over the extent of the detector and decreases the photometric inefficiency.

  • Patent number: 6179216
Abstract: A method of optimizing the delivery of water to cultivated fields by means of a pivoting irrigation gun mounted on a moving carriage, the method consisting, for irrigating a field of length (L) and of width equal to twice the throw (P) of the gun: in subdividing the irrigation zone into three successive zones, namely: a start-of-irrigation zone (ZD), an intermediate zone (ZI), and an end-of-irrigation zone (ZF); and in irrigating the start-of-irrigation zone (ZD) and/or the end-of-irrigation zone (ZF) by performing at least one alternation of a pause during which the carriage is stationary and a displacement of the carriage at a predetermined speed over a distance corresponding to one throw of the gun, so as to optimize the delivery of water relative to the delivery supplied in the intermediate zone, by limiting the water deficits (d1, d2) at the beginning and at the end of irrigation.

  • Patent number: 6180388
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the enzymatic hydrolysis of polyamides 6.6 to give adipic acid monomers and hexamethylenediamine monomers. The present invention further relates to an enzyme with amidase activity particularly towards substrates of the oligomer type derived from PA 6.6 and/or PA 6, said enzyme being characterized in that it consists of a peptide sequence corresponding to SEQ ID NO: 1 in the attached sequence listing and/or at least one polypeptide homologous to this sequence. The invention further relates to the DNA coding for said enzyme and to the biological precursors thereof The invention further relates to the microorganisms capable of producing this enzyme and to the hydrolysis process in which this enzyme and/or these microorganisms are applied.

  • Patent number: 6176590
Abstract: A lighting system for a motor vehicle includes at least two short range driving lights with chopped beams, for illuminating bends in the road. The system includes a control unit for controlling the power supplied to the short-range (bend lighting) driving lights as a function of the steering deflection of the wheels of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6169094
Abstract: A composition is provided comprising an antipsychotic effective amount of (S)(−)-amisulpride, (S)-(−)-4-amino-N-[(1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-yl)methyl]-5-ethylsulfonyl)-2-methoxybenzamide. A preferred composition comprises the (D)-tartrate salt of (S)(−)-amisulpride. The (S)(−) enantiomer exhibits antipsychotic properties and administration of the specific enantiomer reduces adverse side effects by reducing toxicity.
