  • Patent number: 4917011
Abstract: A process for printing a successive row of numbers of bar code 2/5 interleaved provides that the narrow bar/wide bar printing ratio is set at 2:1. A code field is divided into narrow bar areas and the latter are in each case assigned alternately to two different printing units. The printing units exhibit, in the bar areas assigned to them, adjustable printing forms in all bar combinations. The code is printed in exact register by the two printing units in succession.

  • Patent number: 4668181
Abstract: A heater is provided for heating an unwound portion of a web supported at a holder on a rotatable roll. A first pair of rollers between the holder and heater pull the web from the roll. A second pair of rollers advance the web after it passes through the heater.

  • Patent number: 4552068
Abstract: A gravure printing machine cylinder has a means for mounting wrap-on gravure plates thereon using a tensioner able to be rocked about the shaft of the cylinder and having an outer cylindrical face in keeping with the outline of the cylinder in the printing condition. In order to be certain of a truly cylindrical outline of the wrap-on plate that is to be fixed on the cylinder, while at the same time decreasing the distance through which the plate is pulled when being mounted, the tensioner has a member with a beaked rim that is able to be rocked about an axis parallel to the cylinder axis separately from the tensioner, said beaked rim functioning with a gripping part in taking up and fixing in place the mounting fold or flap of the wrap-on plate.

  • Patent number: 4541336
Abstract: In the operation of a multi-color printing press an accurate and at the same time economic control of the inking of the printing plate or the like is made possible by converting the optical frequencies of light reflectance from inking zones (i.e. the zones controlled by the different fountain keys or the like) of the products printed on the press into representative acoustic frequencies which may be processed by electronic signal processing circuitry. The conversion of the light reflectance (diffusely reflected light from the printed image) into acoustic frequencies is undertaken by a light-pressure transducer with a microphone whose electrical output signal goes to a variable frequency filter means with a scan function such that narrow frequency sub-ranges are produced that are processed spectrally in keeping with the intensity thereof.

  • Patent number: 4068586
Abstract: A cylinder for clamping printing plates for photogravure printing wherein the cylinder has a longitudinal bore comprising at least one clamping spindle with a surface for receiving the printing plate ends said at least the clamping spindle runs on the radius of the surface of the cylinder, wherein in the clamping and closing position, the cylinder bore is closed. The clamping spindle is flattened on the inside and loosely supports a continuous cylindrical cup which is positioned in the axis radial in the clamped and locked position of the clamping spindle. There is a tension spring and ball disposed in a lateral bore of the clamping spindle for supporting the spindle with respect to the cylinder bore wall at the side which is opposite to the advancing side of the cylinder.
