  • Patent number: 8302383
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for introducing a liquid into a gas flow, more preferably for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The device includes a chamber, an injection device and a channel. The channel with a circumferential region of an inlet section protrudes into the chamber and there on an inner side facing the gas flow has a surface. Said surface is arranged offset to the inside with respect to a channel profile. The proposed design results in improved evaporation of the liquid introduced into the gas flow.

  • Publication number: 20110083834
Abstract: The invention relates to cooling jackets and/or heat exchangers, which are to be placed in contact with solid products that are to be cooled, especially with electrical machines with a rotor rotating inside or outside a stator, or in contact with reactors or containers. Said jackets and/or heat exchangers have an inner wall and an outer wall which form the boundary of a flow cavity that is provided with inlet and outlet means for a cooling medium and conducting means in order to form and/or limit at least one flow path for the cooling medium between the inner wall and the outer wall from the inlet means to the outlet means. According to the invention, opposing individual flat places or flat sections of the inner wall and the outer wall are in contact with one another within the confines of said walls and passages for the cooling medium remain between the contacting flat places of flat sections.

  • Patent number: 7700907
Abstract: The invention refers to a device for determining the angular position of a compressor stator blade, which is rotatable around its longitudinal axis and arranged in a compressor, with which is associated a measuring surface which rotates synchronously with it. For a reliable, simple and approximately error-free recording of the angular positions, the angular position of the compressor stator blade can be determined via the device in an automated manner. For this purpose, it has at least one mounting unit provided for aligned fastening of the device on the compressor, and at least one measuring and evaluating unit which comprises at least two distance sensors which each record a distance to the measuring surface which is rotatable from the reference position, as a result the angular position of the measuring surface, relative to the reference position depends upon the two recorded distances, is determined by the measuring and evaluating unit.

  • Patent number: 6313757
Abstract: Control logics for the traffic-dependent controlling of traffic signal installations (1) are described with flow diagrams that become increasingly difficult to understand as phase sequences become more complex, and can only with difficulty be converted, in automated fashion, into traffic-oriented descriptions for signal programs. In a database data file (15), conditional equations (B1, B2, B3) that compare traffic-oriented characteristic quantities with predetermined threshold values are stored together with actions (A1, A2, A3, A4) for exchanging signal programs and together with rules (R1, R2, R3, R4). The rules (R1, R2, R3, R4) have control values and action directions (X). The control values are compared with truth values of the conditional equations, and, given complete agreement between the control values of a particular rule and the truth values, the action (A1, A2, A3, A4) to which the action indication (X) of the particular rule (R1, R2, R3, R4) refers is executed.

  • Patent number: 4120200
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring the temperature of an object within a temperature range of between about 100.degree. C and about 2700.degree. C by deriving a signal indicative of the temperature of the object from the total radiation within a limited wavelength range extending from about 8 to about 14 microns. In one form of the invention, a device is provided which includes a radiation detector, a reference member, a temperature control device for automatically maintaining the temperature of the reference member at a substantially constant value, a device for alternately directing radiation from the object and from the reference through a filter to the radiation detector, a signal processing system for receiving signals from the radiation detector and outputting a signal indicative of the temperature of the object, responsive to the difference between the radiation detected from the object and from the reference member.

  • Patent number: 4098554
Abstract: A device for atomizing a sample for so-called flameless atomic absorption spectroscopic measurements of the type in which an electrically conducting hollow tube, into which the sample is introduced as by a central port in the side of the tube, is heated by the passage of current from electrodes contacting the ends of the tube. A protective inert gas is caused to surround the interior and exterior of the tube to exclude air to avoid oxidation of the sample tube which may be graphite. The improvement comprises introducing the protective gas into both ends of the sample tube so that it leaves the interior through the central port from which it may be sucked outside of a surrounding housing. The exterior walls of the sample tube may be provided with protective gas either by means of an auxiliary gas flow or by leading the gas from the bore around the outside of the tube before withdrawing it through the surrounding housing.
