  • Patent number: 6468001
Abstract: A method for redeveloping or renovating sewer conduits and sewer ducts, with which a large amount of scrap rubber can be used. Tube of low inherent stability are produced from scrap rubber and plastic material. These tubes are introduced into old sewer pipes of the sewer ducts, the tube of low inherent stability being supported by the wall of the old sewer pipe.

  • Patent number: 6358220
Abstract: The invention relates to a thermoplastic casting material, especially a thermoplastic casting material for orthopedic and other medical applications for immobilization of extremities and/or joints, that comprise a first textile fabric, a thermoplastic polymer applied to the first textile fabric and at least one second textile fabric applied to this composite. Additionally, the invention relates to a method for the production of this thermoplastic casting material that comprises the following steps: a) application of a thermoplastic polymer on a first textile fabric and b) application of at least one second textile fabric on the first textile fabric from step a) provided with the thermoplastic polymer.

  • Patent number: 5895845
Abstract: For measuring the tread depth of the tyre of a motor vehicle by means of a measuring head containing a laser (67), the laser measuring head is positioned relative to the tyre of the motor vehicle in such a way, that a reference surface or plane adopts a well-defined position with respect to the tyre. The laser beam (66) of the laser (67) is directed through the reference surface (68) at an angle (.alpha.) to the bottom (64) of the tyre tread, whereby a light spot (78) is generated on this bottom (64) of the tyre tread. The position (e) of the light spot (78) is observed by an image resolving sensor (82). Therefrom, a measure (t) of the depth of the tyre tread is gained.

  • Patent number: 5457353
Abstract: For certain applications, such as detecting of glass breakage, it is advantageous to use frequency-selective ultrasonic transducers. In this case, one can dispense with using costly filter configurations to filter out relevant frequency components of the received ultrasonic spectrum. An ultrasonic sandwich transducer, which shows a high sensitivity for certain predetermined frequencies, can be produced by selectively adapting at least one of its geometric dimensions to the frequency selectivity which is required of the transducer. The ultrasonic sandwich transducer preferably has a piezoelectric-ceramic wafer, which is surrounded on at least one of its two wafer surfaces by a layer of low acoustical impedance. The piezoelectric-ceramic wafer is effectively rectangular, resulting in a block-shaped member. One of the dimensions of height, length and width is fixed to correspond to a desired fundamental frequency.

    Inventors: Rudolf Thurn, Hans-Joachim Burger
  • Patent number: 5329682
Abstract: A method for producing an ultrasound transformer as a single integral unit that includes a piezoelectric transformer element coupled to an acoustical matching layer formed from an elastomer capable of vibrating. The method includes the steps of: producing an elastomer body from a molded part which has centering contours; positioning the transformer element into the elastomer body; centering the transformer element with the centering contours; and, coupling the transformer element to the matching layer.

  • Patent number: 5144186
Abstract: In an ultrasonic sandwich transducer having an astigmatic sonic lobe, a small rectangular piezoceramic plate is operated on the fourth planar vibrational mode. To prevent the creation of secondary lobes that lead to spurious signals, damping elements are applied to the longitudinal ends of the ultrasonic sandwich transducer. These types of ultrasonic sandwich transducers find application, in ultrasonic proximity switches.

  • Patent number: 4618467
Abstract: A method of sealing cavities open on one side, preferably cavities of electrical equipment housings fitted with various components. A measured quantity of an encapsulant, preferably polyurethane foam, is inserted into the cavity. Thereafter the opening is covered by a permeable, absorbent fabric, preferably of polypropylene, which is covered first by an elastic and then a rigid layer. After hardening, the fabric is removed from the surface of the encapsulant.
