  • Patent number: 5029489
Abstract: A steering column for motor vehicles with axially adjustable steering shaft and positive locking between an axially adjustable, non-rotatably mounted steering column jacket and a support bearing that forms a rigid part of the vehicle body is described, wherein the locking mechanism consists of teeth provided on the circumference of the steering column jacket and teeth engaging in same, which latter teeth are provided on a locking element movably anchored in the support bearing, as well as of wedge bodies which can be moved into a locked position that brings about locking.

  • Patent number: 4538935
Abstract: A ball and socket joint for heavily loaded joint linkages in motor vehicles, comprises a ball stud with a spherical head, a socket embracing the spherical head and made of a material with limited elasticity, and a casing accommodating the socket and sealingly closed, on its side opposite to the ball stud, with a cambered cover of sheet metal. The cover applies by its inside and under biasing load against the deformable socket. In its portion contacting the socket, the cover is formed with a camber producing the effect that if the joint is loaded axially increasingly from the ball stud, the cover expands and becomes more tightly clamped in the casing.

  • Patent number: 4385813
Abstract: Method for obtaining cross cylinder-like actions for using the adjusting or aligning measurement known as the cross cylinder method in phoropters for subjective refraction, wherein the spherical and cylindrical lens discs of the phoropter are adjusted in preprogrammed manner to cross cylinder-like lens systems. The set problem is also solved by a phoropter with spherical test lenses and cylindrical lenses arranged on lens discs and which can be introduced into the observation optical path, wherein the motor drives of the lens discs are combined in a program control unit, connected to an operating unit and an indicating unit.
