  • Publication number: 20080033469
Abstract: A blood withdrawal system for producing blood from a body part for diagnostic purposes, comprising a housing with a lancet guide capable of guiding a lancet on a predetermined puncturing path and a lancet drive for driving a puncturing movement of a lancet on the predetermined path. The lancet drive comprises a drive rotor driven by a drive spring and rotates about an axis during the puncturing movement, and a coupling mechanism which converts the rotational movement of the drive rotor into a puncturing movement, wherein the lancet is moved during a forward phase of the puncturing movement in the puncturing direction until its tip penetrates into the body part to create a wound and is retracted from the skin during a retraction phase of the puncturing movement. The coupling mechanism includes a translation element coupled to the lancet and guided by a guide on a movement path.

  • Patent number: 6685831
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dialysis machine with a device for preparing dialysis solutions. Simple and reliable preparation of dialysis fluids of different concentrations is achieved by the fact that the device has a detector device, at least two connections and at least two interchangeable storage containers to hold the solution ingredients to be metered, each being connected to at least one connector, and with the connectors being connectable to the connections, and with the connectors or the areas of a connecting tube near the connectors having identification means which can be detected by the detector device. The present invention also relates to a connector for connecting a storage container with solution ingredients to a medical apparatus, where the connector or areas of a connecting tube near the connector has identification means. The present invention also relates to a method of detecting a connection of a solution ingredient storage container.

  • Patent number: 6482189
Abstract: A connector for use in peritoneal dialysis, includes a base body having a first tube for attachment of a container for dialysis solution, and a second tube for attachment of a peritoneal catheter. Positioned in a passageway between the first tube and the second tube is a closure piece which so interacts with an actuator that an operation of the actuator causes the closure piece to move in a linear direction from a first position into a second position in which the fluid flow between the first tube and the second tube is closed while the first tube is sealed off.

  • Patent number: 6033191
Abstract: A micromembrane pump is described which is self-priming and self-filling. For this, the pump chamber (14) is so configured that in a drained condition of the pump chamber (14), the pump membrane (4) adjoins the pump chamber wall (22), which causes the volume of the pump chamber (14) to be minimized. For this, the pump chamber wall (22) can be flat, so that the pump membrane (4) adjoins the flat pump chamber wall (22) in its unshifted rest position. Preferably, the pump includes membrane valves which consist of a valve membrane (3) situated between two halves of the housing (1, 2), and valve seats (10, 16). It also includes a heteromorphic piezoactuator (5) attached to the pump membrane (4). The compact pump is suited to deliver gases and liquids, and can be manufactured in cost-effective fashion from only a few components.
