Abstract: In an apparatus for clamping printing plates for printing presses comprising two clamping strips which are displaceably arranged in a cylinder recess and held by two leaf springs and hook under an end region of the printing plate to be clamped and whose outer contours, in the clamped state, have a curvature corresponding to the cylinder curvature and each of which is bounded by a thrust surface which engages a bent-over edge claw of the printing plate to be clamped, a resilient hose being inserted between the thrust surfaces of the clamping strips and the clamping strips themselves, the clamping strips are adjustable on the one hand in the clamping direction of the printing plates by means of two cams arranged in depressions and on the other hand in a direction opposite to the clamping direction of the printing plates by means of a cam arranged between the leaf springs and in the vertical plane of symmetry of the cylinder.

Abstract: The gap between the ends of a gravure printing plate (3) clamped on a plate cylinder (1) is closed by an apparatus having a gap (5) -covering plate (6) and means for filling the gap cavity with plastic and curable material, consisting of two shaped pieces (7), which are mounted on the shaft ends of the plate cylinder, and a section (8) which is firmly connected to the shaped pieces and in which two displaceable pressure bars (9) are incorporated, wherein a plurality of pressure screws (10) distributed over the length of the pressure bars are arranged above each of the pressure bars.

Abstract: Apparatus for clamping printing plates for rotary printing presses, having one or more clamping strips which are arranged so that they are laterally displaceable in a cylinder recess, which grip under an end region of the plate to be clamped and whose outer contour has a curvature corresponding to the cylinder curvature and is bordered by a pressure surface which engages a bent-over edge claw of the plate to be clamped, an insertable, resilient strip being inserted between the pressure surfaces of the clamping strips and a compression strip which is adjustable radially with respect to the cylinder circumference, wherein the clamping strip is adjustable in the clamping direction of the printing plates by means of two or more hydraulic cylinders which are supported at their rear and on the adjacent cylinder wall.

Abstract: An apparatus for lining a form cylinder for gravure printing with a wrap-around plate is characterized by a machine frame having insertion apertures (3) provided in the area of its side walls (2) and allocated to the lateral journals (4) of the form cylinder (5), and having a swivel frame (10) which is pivotably mounted outside the insertion apertures (3), can be fixed relative to the machine frame and accommodates a drivable pressing roller (7) mounted in rotatable eccentric bushes. In this way, the wrap-around plate can be rolled onto the form cylinder, so that a full, uniform seating of the wrap-around plate on the cylinder periphery is ensured even when the form cylinder possesses no adjustable clamping device.

Abstract: A gravure printing machine cylinder has a means for mounting wrap-on gravure plates thereon using a tensioner able to be rocked about the shaft of the cylinder and having an outer cylindrical face in keeping with the outline of the cylinder in the printing condition. In order to be certain of a truly cylindrical outline of the wrap-on plate that is to be fixed on the cylinder, while at the same time decreasing the distance through which the plate is pulled when being mounted, the tensioner has a member with a beaked rim that is able to be rocked about an axis parallel to the cylinder axis separately from the tensioner, said beaked rim functioning with a gripping part in taking up and fixing in place the mounting fold or flap of the wrap-on plate.

Abstract: In the case of a device for holding offset or other plates on the plate cylinder of a printing press with two clamping members on the two sides of a well running in the axial direction of the cylinder and each having a gripping part of clamping the hooked ends of the plate and at least one of the members may be rocked about an axis parallel to the axis of turning of the cylinder, the necessary width of the well may be greatly decreased in the clamped condition of the system of one of the clamping members, that is able to be rocked, takes the form of a segment bar having a cross-section that is generally three-sided and segment-like. This bar may be placed next to an outer face of the cylinder body and has an outer face lined up with and continuing the outer face of the cylinder body.

Abstract: For producing quality work on a printing machine using a hard printing plate and high viscosity printing ink taken up by a fountain roller running in an ink fountain and transported by the fountain roller to an ink drum running against at least one form roller for inking the plate, while nevertheless keeping the inking system design simple, the inking unit has a single form roller having a diameter equal to that of the working diameter of the plate and designed to be run at the same surface speed as the plate: the drum for inking the form roller has a screen on its outer face made up of ink takeup pockets separated by lands, the ink drum having a smaller diameter than the form roller and being turned by a driving system of the press. The outer face of the ink drum with the screen is stripped by a stripping unit, such as doctor plate, running on and clearing the lands between the ink takeup pocket. Furthermore the fountain roller is run with a speed different to that of the screened ink drum.
