  • Patent number: 5438930
Abstract: The invention relates to a mine with at least one ejectable sub-munitions body disposed in a cup-shaped starting device and with a propulsion device for propelling the sub-munitions body into a selectable altitude range. For achieving that the propulsion device requires only a small structural volume, entails low cost because of the use of reduced amounts of propulsion charges and in addition operates safely and dependably. It has been proposed to dispose the propulsion device not in or on the sub-munitions body, but in the bottom part of the cup-shaped starting device. In this case the propulsion device advantageously consists of a high pressure chamber facing the bottom of the starting device, in which the propellant charge is contained, and of a low pressure chamber facing the sub-munitions body. The high pressure and low pressure chambers are separated from each other by a perforated plate provided with jets (holes).

  • Patent number: 5042389
Abstract: A large-caliber carrier projectile for transporting a payload, with the projectile including an ejection charge and an ejector plate for ejecting the payload from the carrier projectile over a target area. To overcome the problem of the ejector plate colliding with individual bomblets of the payload, and thus causing considerable interference with proper functioning or premature detonations in the air, the ejector plate is an eccentric center of gravity. Alternatively, the ejector plate may be segmented and composed of at least two separable parts which are separated by the action of centrifugal force after ejection from the carrier projectile.

  • Patent number: 4406225
Abstract: In a spin-stabilized projectile, an improved ignition fuse arrangement for a pyrotechnic ignition charge. The ignition charge is mounted in a rotor which is movable from a safety position to an armed (active) position. This rotor is held by actuating means in the safety position and is released by the actuating means and moves to the armed position when the projectile has been subjected to predetermined centrifugal and inertial forces. The actuating means include biasing means which are biased against the rotor to maintain it in its safety position.
