Patent number: 6648292Abstract: The invention relates to a longitudinal seat adjustment system for seats, comprising two pairs of rails (10) which are set apart from each other. Said pairs of rails each consist of two U-shaped rails, an upper rail (11) and a lower rail (12). These two rails (11, 12) can be switched to a locking position or a release position by means of at least one spring-loaded, plate-shaped locking part (21). Said locking part (21) has teeth (15) on two opposite sides, these teeth engaging in recesses (14) or openings (16) in the rails. According to the invention, the edge areas (44) of the tooth-like recesses (14) in the lower rail (12) and/or the edge areas (45) of the slit-like openings (16) in the upper rail (11) are permanently deformable. Consequently, in the locking position, the teeth (15) of the plate-shaped locking part (21) which engage in the openings (16) and recesses (14) deform the edge areas of said opening (16) or recesses (14) in the event of a considerable load, for example in an accident.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2002Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Assignee: Keiper GmbH & Co.Inventors: Joachim Flick, Michael Borbe, Bernd Gross, Wolfgang Klahold

Patent number: 6308589Abstract: A locking device for vehicle seats, in particular motor vehicle seats, includes two mutually displaceable parts. A rail, associated to one of the parts, extends in the direction of displacement and has at least one row of snap-in holes extending longitudinally along the rail. These holes are separated from each other by web-like material sections. Ratchets, associated to the other part, can move in relation to the rail between a disengaging position and a locking position. They move perpendicularly to the direction of extension of the rail, and are controlled via an operating mechanism. When the mutually displaceable parts are in locked position, at least one of the ratchets engages in a corresponding snap-in hole. At least one retaining element prevents involuntary disengaging of the ratchet from an effective locking position. As a result, reliable locking is achieved, in particular in the event of a crash, which entails high frequency vibrational fractions.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1999Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Keiper GmbH & Co.Inventors: Rolf Schuler, Joachim Flick, Wolfgang Henrich, Christoph Leibeling

Patent number: 6234575Abstract: A longitudinal adjusting device on a motor vehicle seat having a seat back adjustable relative to the seat part and forwardly foldable after releasing an arresting device, has movable rails on which the seat is fastened. The moveable rails can slide in guide rails attached to the vehicle. One movable rail has a locking device that releasably locks the moveable rail on the guide rail. The locking device has a positioning device for returning the seat to its previous longitudinal position. The positioning device has a positioning disc with locking teeth and an arresting lever with a toothed segment engaging the locking teeth. The arresting lever can be released from the locking teeth to allow rotation of the positioning disc during longitudinal adjustment of the seat. A spring-loaded winding drum is arranged coaxially to the positioning disc and allows the seat part to slide forward by a tension member attached to the seat part or the guide rail.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1999Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Keiper GmbH & Co.Inventors: Rolf Schüler, Joachim Flick, Ronald Rischewski, Ralph Eble

Patent number: 6170790Abstract: A longitudinal adjusting device for vehicle seats, whose backrest, which is adjustable in inclination positions which are selectable as the case may be, is swivelably connected with a seat part, has running rails and guide rails, wherein the seat part is fastened to the running rails. Each running rail is displaceable longitudinally in one of the guide rails fixed to the vehicle floor. A locking device secures at least one of the running rails to the respective guide rail in selectable longitudinal positions. A spring member supports at least one of the running rails at the guide rail for purposes of a forward displacement of the running rails, wherein the spring member is a spiral spring. A winding drum is rotatably supported on the running rail, wherein a first end of the spiral spring is associated with the running rail and a second end of the spiral spring is associated with the guide rail, wherein the second end of the spiral spring associated with the guide rail is held at the winding drum.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1999Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: Keiper GmbH & Co.Inventors: Rolf Sch{umlaut over (u)}ler, Joachim Flick

Patent number: 5893610Abstract: A longitudinal adjusting device in a motor vehicle seat, particularly for two-door motor vehicles, wherein the seat includes a backrest and a seat portion secured at running rails of a rail arrangement and wherein each running rail is longitudinally displaceably arranged in a guide rail. At least one running rail is supported at the respective guide rail through a spring member such that the running rail is biased forwardly. At least one running rail includes a releasable locking device for the longitudinal adjustment, and the locking device includes a positioning device for making it possible to find or reset a previously adjusted longitudinal seat position. The positioning device includes a positioning disk provided with a stop, wherein the positioning disk is rotatably supported on a structural component forming part of the moveable seat portion and wherein the positioning disk can be releasibly secured against the force of a torsion spring.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1997Date of Patent: April 13, 1999Assignee: Keiper GmbH & Co.Inventors: Rolf Schuler, Joachim Flick

Patent number: 5477945Abstract: A drum brake arrangement for vehicle axles has an axle body and a support plate connected thereto. A bearing lever is fixed to the support plate. A brake camshaft has a first and a second end and is actuatable by a brake cylinder. The brake camshaft has a brake cam connected to the first end. A support bearing and another bearing for rotatably supporting the brake cam shaft on the axle body are provided. A slack adjuster is connected to the second end of the brake camshaft and has a housing with a cylindrical bore. The slack adjuster has a worm gear, connected to the brake camshaft, for adjusting the drum brake according to wear of the brake pads.
