  • Patent number: 5568241
Abstract: A thermofixiug device for fixing toner images on a strip-shaped or sheet-like recording substrate (17) of an electrophotographic printing or copying machine contains a thermoprinting fixing station (11, 12) and a heated preheating saddle (15) located upstream of the thermoprinting fixing station in the recording substrate running direction. The preheating saddle (15) is designed as a low temperature saddle with the largest possible constructional length, so that the temperature difference between recording substrate (17) end saddle surface (24) is as small as possible. The preheating saddle has, in the recording substrate running direction, a plurality of heating zones (21, 23). A control device controls the heating zones (21, 23) in such a manner that, along the preheating saddle (15), an approximately constent thermal energy flow occurs on the saddle surface (24) to the recording substrate (17).

  • Patent number: 5557388
Abstract: A printing or copying apparatus is provided having a thermofixing device for fixing a toner image to a sheet recording medium or substrate, such as paper. The apparatus has at least one cooling device operable to cool the substrate after it passes through the thermofixing device and before the substrate is stacked. The cooling performed by the cooling device prevents the toner image from undesirably sticking to an adjacently overlying substrate surface after stacking.

  • Patent number: 5359777
Abstract: A cutterhead for a string trimmer having a rotatable drive shaft is adapted to hold and meter a cutting filament during operational use thereof. The cutterhead includes a disc-like carrier fixedly connected to one end of the drive shaft to permit the carrier to rotate about a rotational axis. The carrier has a peripheral edge and a peripherally extending outer wall approximately perpendicular to the carrier along the peripheral edge. The outer wall defines a space for accommodating the cutting filament in the cutterhead and has a guide eyelet disposed therein to define a pass-through opening for guiding the filament from the space to the outside of the cutterhead where a segment of the filament extends radially outwardly from the outer wall to define a cutting plane when the drive shaft rotates. The guide eyelet is made of wear-resistant material and is adapted to the diameter of the cutting filament.

  • Patent number: 5351403
Abstract: A protective shield for a free-cutting tool having a rotatable cutting head with a cutting thread that extends radially upon rotation of the cutting head and thus defines a cutting plane, has a support section for fixedly connecting the shield to the tool above the cutting plane. A circumferential wall is connected to the support section and extends about a portion of the circumference of the cutting plane. The circumferential wall extends axially from the support section to at least the cutting plane and has axially extending lateral edges arranged perpendicular to a direction of rotation of the cutting head. The lateral edges each have a round transition into a bottom edge of the circumferential wall. A crosscutting blade for cutting to length the cutting thread is connected to the inside of the circumferential wall at its leading portion in the direction of rotation. The crosscutting blade extends over the axial height of the circumferential wall.

  • Patent number: 5118205
Abstract: A bottom bracket bearing unit for a bicycle or the like has an installation unit formed by a long sleeve and short sleeve of synthetic resin formed directly with race grooves for a pair of double bearings which have steel balls riding between the grooves of the sleeves and the grooves of the pedal-crnak axle or shaft which is received in these sleeves.

  • Patent number: 5036648
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutterhead for vegetation cutter apparatus and has as its object to configure the cutterhead so that the cutterhead as a unit can be built so as to be overall constructively small and reduce wear. The cutterhead controls the spool having the filament with the aid of a latching lever. To achieve an overall construction which is small and subjected to less wear, the invention provides at least one pivot lug fixedly mounted on the housing having its latching lever arranged in an annular space lying concentric to the rotational axis between the hub of the cutterhead and the switching cams corresponding to the filament spool. These switching cams lie in the outer radial region of the spool.

  • Patent number: 5010649
Abstract: The invention is directed to a cutterhead for a rotatably-driven vegetation cutter apparatus defining a drive axis about which the cutterhead is rotatably driven. The cutterhead includes a housing adpated to be rotatably driven by the vegetation cutter apparatus about the drive axis and a spool carrying a flexible cutting filament wound thereon with the spool being rotatably journalled in the housing. An indexing device permits an incremental rotation of the spool relative to the housing to pay out incremental lengths of the cutting filament. The indexing device includes a blocking lever pivotally journalled in the housing. The blocking lever has a first lever arm having a switching arm formed thereon and a second lever arm has a redirecting element formed thereon for guiding the cutting filament over the blocking lever.

  • Patent number: 4989321
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotatably driven cutterhead for a vegetation cutter apparatus. The cutterhead includes a housing in which a spool for the cutting filament is rotatably journalled so as to be rotatable relative to the housing. Switching stops are provided which coact with the spool. Latching levers are pivotally mounted in the housing which each have a latching arm which coacts with the switching stops in dependence upon centrifugal force in such a manner that the spool is first in a latched condition and is then in a freely rotatably condition with correspondingly higher centrifugal force. A predetermined length of filament is unwound in the freely rotatably condition of the spool. The latching arm pivots between an outer release position and an inner latching position and is resiliently biased by a spring in the direction of its latching position.

  • Patent number: 4893410
Abstract: The invention is directed to a cutterhead for attachment to a vegetation cutting apparatus. The cutterhead has a housing with a spool on which a coil of cutting filament is wound. The cutting filament is paid out in incremental lengths when its ends effective for cutting are worn. This is achieved with an incremental rotation of the spool while the cutterhead rotates. For this purpose, the filament coil must have a winding rotation corresponding to the direction of rotation of the cutterhead. So that the cutterhead can be utilized for oppositely directed rotations as desired, the spool can be turned over through 180.degree. and can be blocked and released in both positions by means of a switching member to provide the incremental rotation. The spool can be seated on the switching member and its position, when installed, is determined by means of a marking which is applied to the adapter nut and to the spool. The adapter nut serves to tighten the cutterhead onto the vegetation cutting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4866846
Abstract: The cutterhead includes a cutting filament wound on a spool and this cutting filament is adjusted with respect to its effective cutting length in dependence upon the rotational speed of the cutterhead. The switching point for the automatic feed must be precisely matched to the drive speed in order that the desired effective cutting length is maintained. In order to assure the desired effective cutting length, a spring is provided which is adjustable with respect to its biasing force by means of an easily accessible adjusting member. This biasing force is matched to the speed-dependent centrifugal force such that the spool is released at a predetermined speed of the cutterhead.

  • Patent number: 4711331
Abstract: A freewheeling overrunning clutch for a bicycle, moped, and the like vehicle comprises a plurality of clutch pawls present between an outer wheel and an inner wheel which are supportable elastically on one side on the inner wheel circumference and on the other side on a plurality of inner teeth of the outer wheel. In order to provide a simple, almost noise free structure which is easy to mount, the clutch pawls pivotally supported in a flexible supporting ring positioned between the inner and outer wheels. Ends of the clutch pawls which face the inner wheel are brought into engagement with the plurality of teeth protruding outward from the inner wheel. The flexible supporting ring advantageously may simultaneously be a spacing ring for a plurality of balls of a ball bearing or bearings positioned adjacent the clutch pawls between the outer and inner wheels.
