  • Patent number: 5951970
Abstract: The invention relates to a composition which donates an odoriferous substance and absorbs moisture, and can preferably be employed in wardrobes and similar containers, and in small rooms, for keeping the atmosphere dry.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 1997
Date of Patent: September 14, 1999
    Assignee: Haarmann & Reimer GmbH
    Inventors: Wolfgang Wrede, Joachim Kochta
  • Patent number: 5554711
Abstract: The invention relates to reaction products prepared from(a) organic polyisocyanates,(b) 0.005 to 0.9 equivalents of a C.sub.6-24 alcohol per equivalent of NCO or latent NCO present in component (a),(c) 0.1 to 0.995 mol of cyanamide per equivalent of NCO or latent NCO present in component (a), and(d) ammonia or a volatile amine as neutralizing agent for the cyanamide groups of component (c),with the proviso that the reaction products are free from polyester and polyether groups and from halogen atoms.

  • Patent number: 5472741
Abstract: Copolymers containing incorporated radicals of long-chain alcohols and neutralized carboxyl groups are suitable as retanning agents for leather. They result in an excellent combination of water repellency, softness and grain tightness.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 6, 1994
Date of Patent: December 5, 1995
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 5417723
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for retanning chrome-tanned leather comprising applying to leather a reaction product of(a) at least one glycerol monoester of a saturated C.sub.12-18 monocarboxylic acid,(b) at least one diisocyanate selected from the group consisting of toluene diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate, and isophorone diisocyanate, and(c) dimethylolpropionic acid, wherein(i) the components (a), (b) and (c) are so selected that the molar ratio of the isocyanate groups of component (b) to the sum of the hydroxyl groups of components (a) plus (c) is about 0.5 to about 1.05 and(ii) the molar ratio of compound (c) to compound (a) is about 0.7 to about 1.5 and wherein(iii) the carboxyl groups originating from compound (c) are at least partly neutralized.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 1994
Date of Patent: May 23, 1995
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Harro Traubel, Wilhelm Krummel, Joachim Kochta
  • Patent number: 5340365
Abstract: In the production of chrome leather, a pretreatment of delimed and bated pelts with condensation products not having a tanning action leads to substrates which, without any problems, can be mechanically dewatered and shaved or split and shaved. The properties of the leathers produced therefrom by chrome tanning do not differ from those of leathers which have been conventionally chrome-tanned and shaved.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 23, 1994
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
