  • Publication number: 20240129863
Abstract: Methods inform an eNodeB on the transmit power status of a user equipment in a mobile communication system using component carrier (CC) aggregation. Also described is an implementation of these methods by hardware and in software. The invention proposes procedures that allow the eNodeB to recognize the power usage status of a UE in a communication system using carrier aggregation. The UE indicates to the eNodeB when the UE is close to using its total maximum UE transmit power or when it has exceeded the same. This is achieved by the UE including indicator(s) and/or new MAC CEs to one or more protocol data units transmitted on respective component carriers within a single sub-frame that is providing the eNodeB with power status information. The MAC CEs may report a per-UE power headroom. Alternatively, the MAC CEs may report per-CC power headrooms and/or power reductions applied to the respective uplink CCs.

  • Patent number: 11956800
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for preempting an uplink resource allocation. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that receives a first allocation of uplink resources in a mobile communication network and receives a second allocation of uplink resources. Here, the second allocation at least partially overlaps in time with the first allocation and the second allocation is received at a later time than the first allocation. The processor determines whether the second allocation is associated with higher priority traffic than the first allocation and preempts the first allocation to generate a TB according to the second allocation in response to the second allocation being associated with higher priority traffic than the first allocation.

  • Patent number: 11943806
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a resource allocation procedure, performed between a user equipment and radio base station. The UE is configured with at least one numerology scheme, each associated with parameters partitioning time-frequency radio resources into resource scheduling units differently. The UE is configured with logical channels each of which is associated with at least one numerology scheme. A receiver of the UE receives from the radio base station an uplink scheduling assignment, which indicates uplink radio resources usable by the UE. A processor of the UE determines for which numerology scheme the received uplink scheduling assignment is intended based on the received uplink scheduling assignment. The processor performs a logical channel prioritization procedure by allocating the assigned uplink radio resources to the configured logical channels and by prioritizing those logical channels that are associated with the numerology scheme for which the uplink scheduling assignment is intended.

  • Patent number: 11937331
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods for improving the DRX operation of a UE by introducing an additional DRX wake-up cycle, which runs in parallel to the short and/or long DRX cycle. The DRX wake-up cycle defines time intervals after which the UE starts monitoring the PDCCH for a wake-up duration of time; the UE does not perform any other operation during the wake-up duration apart from monitoring the PDCCH. The time intervals of the wake-up cycle between the wake-up durations are preferably shorter than the one of the DRX long cycle, and may have the same or a shorter length than the ones of the DRX short cycle. The wake-up duration may be as long as the on-duration of the DRX short/long cycle, or may be preferably much shorter, such as only one or a few subframes.

  • Patent number: 11936555
Abstract: For duplicating PDCP PDUs for a radio bearer, methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver for communicating with a mobile communication network. The processor establishes a radio bearer to communicate with the network, the radio bearer includes a PDCP entity, first and second RLC entities associated with said PDCP entity, first and second logical channels associated with said first and second RLC entities, respectively. The processor receives a control signal from the network, submits a PDCP data PDU in the PDCP entity to the first RLC entity for transmission. In response to the first control signal, the processor submits the PDCP data PDU to the second RLC entity for transmission. The processor indicates to one of the first and second RLC entities to discard a duplicate PDCP data PDU corresponding to a successfully delivered PDCP data PDU.

  • Publication number: 20240090014
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for improving a scheduling request transmission between a UE and a base station. The transmission of the scheduling request is postponed, by implementing a threshold that the data in the transmission buffer has to reach, before a transmission of the scheduling request is triggered. In one variant, the data in the transmission buffer needs to reach a specific amount, to trigger a scheduling request. The invention refers to further improvements: the PDDCH monitoring time window is delayed after sending a scheduling request; the dedicated scheduling request resources of the PUCCH are prioritized differently such that low-priority scheduling requests are transmitted less often.
