  • Patent number: 7121967
Abstract: The invention relates to a control circuit for generating a control signal (I) for controlling the transmission ratio adjustment of a belt transmission continuously adjustable with respect to its transmission ratio. The belt transmission includes a drive end (7), an output end (8) and a primary valve (15) for adjusting the transmission ratio. The primary valve (15) is driven by the control signal (I). The control circuit includes means for generating the control signal (I) in dependence upon operating parameters of the vehicle transmitted to the control circuit. It is suggested that the control signal (I) is generated in dependence upon a value (y) for a desired speed of the transmission ratio change or from a quantity derived therefrom. The value (y) for the desired speed of the transmission ratio change is determined from the operating parameters transmitted to the control circuit.

  • Patent number: 7022043
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for controlling the operation of a clutch (19) which coacts with an automatic transmission stage (17). A variator controller (16) is assigned to the automatic transmission stage (17) and a contact-force control (18) is assigned to the clutch (19). Depending upon the detected and classifiable drive situations, first and second torque/contact-force reserves (13, 44) are determined which are supplied to an input quantity ME (22) of the variator controller (16) and to the contact-force control (18) for the clutch (19). The output signals (20, 21) of the variator controller (16) and the contact-force control (18) influence the operation of the automatic transmission stage (17) and the clutch (19).

  • Patent number: 6935203
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for determining the gear selection utilizing a selection lever in an automatic transmission having at least two units (10, 12) for detecting the selection lever position (14, 16, 18, 20, 22). Each unit (10, 12) generates a signal corresponding to the detected selection lever position (14, 16, 18, 20, 22). The system also has a device for evaluating the signals. Based on the signals, the gear selection can be determined while considering plausibility rules. The invention relates further to a method for determining the gear selection utilizing a selection lever in an automatic transmission.

  • Patent number: 6824483
Abstract: A control system for a continuously variable transmission and continuously variable transmission wherein such is utilised, includes a drive belt located between pulley discs of a first pulley and of a second pulley, the pulleys being rotatable at a rotational speed and being operable by a first and a second piston/cylinder assembly respectively. The control system controls the respective cylinder pressure in the first and second piston/cylinder assemblies, at least based on a torque signal representing the torque to be transmitted by the transmission and two speed signals representing the rotational speeds of the first and second pulley, for clamping the drive belt between the discs thereby enabling torque transmission between the pulleys and the drive belt.

  • Patent number: 6748309
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for determining the transmission ratio of a continuously variable transmission having a drive end and an output end. A signal, which represents the transmission ratio, is computed in dependence upon a primary rpm of the drive end and a secondary rpm of the output end which are transmitted to the arrangement. A fault signal is generated which is dependent upon the instantaneous primary rpm and/or the instantaneous secondary rpm and indicates whether a value for the transmission ratio is to be outputted as the signal representing the transmission ratio. This value is computed from the detected instantaneous values for the primary rpm and the secondary rpm.

  • Patent number: 6682451
Abstract: A hydraulic controller (10, 10a, 10b) for a continuously variable transmission (12) is proposed. Using a pump (42), the delivery chambers (24, 26) of a first and second adjusting device (14, 16) are acted upon to alter the transmission ratio of the transmission (12). The valve (36, 36a, 36b), which can be controlled using a pressure drop created at a throttle position (50), serves to control the pressure in the delivery chamber (24). According to the invention, additional means are provided to prevent an adjustment of the transmission (12) in the “low” direction in the (N) operating state and, as necessary, in the (P) and (N) operating states.
