  • Patent number: 4776420
Abstract: A device for automotive vehicles for both traction control and cruise control is equipped with a common servo motor (13) which, by way of a self-locking gear (14), by way of a switchable friction gear (17) and by way of a linkage (23, 24; 25, 26) acts upon a transmission device interposed into the path of force transmission from an accelerator pedal (1) to the throttle-flap (2) of an internal-combustion engine or to the adjusting lever of the injection pump of a spark-ignition engine. Depending on the switch position of the friction gear (17), the servo motor (13) permits control of either the traction (VR) or the speed (GR). During traction control, a release of the accelerator pedal (1) leads at any time to closing of the throttle-flap (2), while an increase of the pedal force does not have any effect on the position of the throttle-flap. After the activation of cruise control, it is still possible to increase the engine power by further depressing the accelerator pedal (1).

  • Patent number: 4747461
Abstract: A traction slip control device for motor vehicles is disclosed including a sensor responding to a beginning slip of the driving wheels. The sensor operates via a control circuitry, the accelerator pedal-operated throttle valve at the vehicle engine, in a manner for reduction of the engine's driving power. The accelerator pedal is overriden by means of a hydraulic control element connected in. Parallel to the accelerator pedal is a piston rod arranged in a bore within a stepped piston associated with the hydraulic control element. The piston rod is, via a ball lock, adapted to be axially coupled with the stepped piston such that the piston rod is entrained by the stepped piston and shifts the throttle valve in the direction of closure in opposition to the force acting upon the accelerator pedal.

  • Patent number: 4405490
Abstract: An anti-foam composition comprising(a) a dispersion of a silicon dioxide filler in an organopolysiloxane,(b) an emulsifier or dispersant, and(c) at least one water soluble compound selected from the group consisting of(i) a divalent aliphatic alcohol containing 4 to 10 carbon atoms,(ii) a trivalent aliphatic alcohol containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each independently is hydrogen, C.sub.1-8 -alkyl or C.sub.1-8 -alkyl-CO-, andn,m,p and r are so chosen that the molecular weight of (c) does not exceed 499.Advantageously, based upon (a) plus (b) plus (c) the composition by weight comprises about 25 to 35% (a), about 8 to 12% (b) and about 53 to 67% (c), the composition additionally containing water in up to about 45% by weight of the entire composition. The composition is more readily water-dispersible and of better anti-foaming action than heretofore.

  • Patent number: 4274910
Abstract: The invention procides a circulation evaporator for concentrating mineral acid, particularly sulphuric acid, comprising parts of, or at least coated with, enamel, characterized by a heat exchanger for heating the acid comprising at least one acid feed pipe provided with an enamel layer, means being provided to maintain the compressive stress in the enamel layer under all working conditions, said acid feed pipe being connected at its inlet end to a circulation pump and at its outlet end to a flash evaporator for concentrating the heated acid, this evaporator being connected by a circulation pipe to the pump inlet and to means for introducing the crude acid, for discharging the concentrate and for carrying away the vapors.

  • Patent number: 4218387
Abstract: In the preparation of catalytic copper with an average particle size between about 0.1 and 100 microns and a copper-I oxide content of about 3 to 100% by oxidation of a Cu powder, the improvement which comprises carrying out the oxidation with oxygen at a reduced partial pressure compared with that of air, the resulting catalyst being of enhanced catalytic activity especially for the reaction of hydrocarbon chlorides with silicon for the production of organochlorosilanes (Rochow synthesis) wherein the desired material is produced in higher yield and greater selectivity.

  • Patent number: 4079070
Abstract: In the preparation of a cyclic diphenylsiloxane of the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN N IS 3 OR 4, BY HYDROLYSIS OF A DIPHENYLDIHALOGENOSILANE, THE IMPROVEMENT WHICH COMPRISES ADDING THE DIPHENYLDIHALOGENOSILANE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ORGANIC, APROTIC SOLVENT TO AN AQUEOUS BASIC SOLUTION, THE BASE BEING EMPLOYED IN AN AMOUNT WHICH IS AT LEAST STOICHIOMETRICALLY EQUIVALENT TO THE HALOGEN CONTENT, WHEREBY THE CYCLIC DIPHENYLSILOXANE IS OBTAINED IN HIGH YIELD AND PURITY. The base is preferably lithium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide and is used in the form of an at least 5 molar solution, about 2.1 to 2.5 equivalents being used per mole of diphenyldihalogenosilane.
