  • Patent number: 7488301
Abstract: A method for the return of blood from a blood treatment apparatus, preferably from a dialysis apparatus, uses a pumped substituate fluid to displace the blood. A substituate pump contained in the treatment apparatus displaces the blood by means of the correspondingly transported substituate fluid until it is detected in corresponding detectors that substituate fluid is flowing back in the line instead of blood. Once the transported substituate fluid has been detected, the blood volume is further displaced in a controlled manner until it has reached the line outlet of the corresponding line.

  • Patent number: 6880034
Abstract: A medical appliance having an auxiliary computer system in addition to its action computer system, and further having two communications buses. The auxiliary computer system independently monitors the functional mode of the action computer system and can induce a reliable state of the appliance in an emergency. To easily, quickly and reliably implement a programming, the execution of test sequences, the diagnosis and the maintenance of such an appliance, a connection line, which can be interrupted by a switch, is arrange between the communication buses, and both communications buses can be connected to form a unified communications bus via the communication line. A method for executing such a programming process, testing process, diagnostic process and/or maintenance process of a medical appliance is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6738052
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for operating technical medical apparatus, especially dialysis apparatus, with a display screen and a touch screen surface and with a means for displaying and/or altering characteristic treatment data. The invention simplifies handling of technical medical apparatus and reduces the probability of operating errors by providing a second means for displaying characteristic symbols for the components of the apparatus, thereby allowing manipulation of the characteristic treatment data by touching the symbols on the touch screen surface. The invention also entails a method of operating technical medical apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6645166
Abstract: A blood treatment device, in particular a dialysis machine, which permits both single-needle and dual-needle operation. The device has a blood treatment unit, in particular a dialyzer that has an inlet connected to a feed line and an outlet connected to a return line. The feed line has two parallel line branches with a positive displacement pump being connected into the first and second line branches. To produce a fluid connection between the outlet of the dialyzer and one of the two pumps, a connection line is provided. For dual-needle operation, the feed and return lines are connected to an arterial and a venous needle. For single-needle operation, the feed and return lines are brought together and connected to a common needle. The connection line permits single-needle operation without great changes to the structure of the blood treatment device.

  • Publication number: 20030046439
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of programming, of the execution of test sequences, of diagnosis and of the maintenance of medical appliances which, due to their computer architecture, comprise two communications buses. One such computer architecture is generally provided when a medical appliance, due to safety requirements, comprises an auxiliary computer system in addition to its action computer system. Said auxiliary computer system independently monitors the functional mode of the action computer system and can induce a reliable state of the appliance in an emergency. The aim of the invention is to be able to easily, quickly and reliably implement a programming, the execution of test sequences, the diagnosis and the maintenance of such an appliance. To these ends, the invention provides that a connection line, which can be interrupted by a switch, is arranged between the communications buses, and both communications buses can be connected to form a unified communications bus via said connection line.

  • Patent number: 6210803
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of an electrolyte and acetic acid granulate for making a hemodialysis solution, the granulate comprising the electrolytes potassium chloride, calcium chloride and magnesium chloride, and the method comprising preparing the granulate and adding a desired quantity of acetic acid. The granulate, which is easy to process and has free flow capability, is made by crushing the electrolyte salts to a grain size of less than 0.5 mm and subsequently granulating the electrolyte salts in a dry gas atmosphere to a granulate having a grain size of 1 to 10 mm and a pore volume of more than 25 percent by volume. Subsequently, the acetic acid is added to the granulate, preferably by spraying.
