Abstract: A device for the tracking of an object is presented. The device comprising a wireless communication unit for the transmission of data via a wireless communications network, a measuring device, and a controller, wherein the wireless communication unit is controlled via the controller and wherein the measuring device is connected to the controller. The invention provides based on the measuring device the detection of a first transportation status, in which the device is located inside an aircraft or is in the state of flight. The detection of the transportation status of the device by the measuring device in an aircraft or in flight offers the opportunity to control other features of the device, in particular in regard to the wireless communication unit, in such manner as not to interfere with the electronic controls of an aircraft.
