  • Patent number: 4378138
Abstract: Destructive effects of shaft currents that are generated by residual magnetic fields in the stator or rotor are minimized by shaft grounding brushes that are positioned to contact a shaft surface and that are grounded externally of the machine. These brushes are desirably held by gravity against the shaft and with an indicator when maximum permissible wear has occurred on the brush.

  • Patent number: 3982378
Abstract: A vortex tube construction in which the cold and hot fluids are recirculated to the inlet and energy is extracted from or added to the fluids either by heat exchange or by mechanical removal. This concept is adapted for other devices in which a flow of substantially homogeneous fluid is divided into separate flows at different energy levels.
