  • Patent number: 11014349
Abstract: In an method for double-sided printing to a recording medium, a first side of the recording medium is printed to with a liquid first color separation, the liquid first color separation is pre-dried such that a predetermined final drying state remains unachieved, where the pre-dried state is a transportable intermediate state that is between a wet print image directly after printing and the predetermined final drying state, a second side of the recording medium is printed to with a liquid second color separation, and the pre-dried first color separation and the second liquid color separation are jointly dried to entirely achieve the predetermined final drying state for both the first and second color separations.

  • Patent number: 10919317
Abstract: In preparation for the stop of a printer, a forward and backward movement of the recording medium in the form of a web is implemented so that the segment of the recording medium that is in contact with a roller of the printer given a stop of the printer is moved at least partially before or after the roller. In preparation for the stop, climatic properties of the recording medium may thus be adapted to the climatic properties of the local environment of the roller, where deformations of the recording medium may be advantageously reduced or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 9259950
Abstract: A printing unit prints to a pre-folded substrate web. An intake unit is at an intake of a transport arrangement. A synchronization sensor is at the transport arrangement between an infeed roller and the printing unit. The synchronization sensor emits a synchronization signal when a fold of the web is present at the synchronization sensor for synchronization of a printing operation with feed of the web. A path between the synchronization sensor and a freely accessible point of the intake unit is designed such that a fold is present at the synchronization sensor when the printing substrate web has a fold at the accessible point. A relative humidity sensor is at the printing unit. A relative humidity measured by the sensor is compared with a relative humidity of an input stack. Given a deviation a length change of the web between the synchronization sensor and the accessible point is calculated, the web being displaced by the length change at the accessible point.

  • Patent number: 9205675
Abstract: In a method or device to dry a web-shaped recording medium in a printer, the web-shaped recording medium is printed with aqueous ink and subsequently directed with a predetermined web tension past a heatable body whose contact surface that faces towards the recording medium is brought into contact with a side of said recording medium that has not been freshly printed to dry said recording medium in a drying operation. A first guide element is arranged before the heatable body and a second guide element is arranged after the heatable body, the first and second guide elements guiding the recording medium. The contact surface of the heatable body is substantially flat. A negative pressure device generates a negative pressure at the contact surface facing towards the recording medium. The negative pressure is deactivated in a halt operation, the deactivation process taking place continuously over an adjustable time interval.

  • Patent number: 9004635
Abstract: In a method to execute a pause function in an inkjet printing system with at least one printing apparatus, the pause function is triggered to reduce a feed speed of the printing substrate web from a speed during printing operation to a predetermined speed for a predetermined duration. The duration is selected so that the printing substrate has suitable properties with regard to at least one of the elements selected from the group consisting of moisture and temperature under the printing unit of the printing apparatus at an end of the pause function. After ending the pause function, the printing substrate web is accelerated again to the speed during the printing operation.

  • Patent number: 7583918
Abstract: In a method or device for operation of an electrographic printing or copying device, at least toner particles are accumulated on a surface of a first carrier element. After a transfer of toner particles onto a further carrier element, toner particles still remaining on the first carrier element are removed by generating a traveling field between the first carrier element and the cleaning device which transports the toner particles.

  • Patent number: 6606475
Abstract: A printer or copier has a toner transfer belt which is moved into an out of engagement with a transfer printing area. The toner transfer belt is carried on an arrangement of rollers that maintain a constant tension on the toner transfer belt. Rigid linking levers extend between the rollers of the roller arrangement so that belt tension is maintained by movement of compensation rollers, outward while moving a transfer roller upward, for example.
