  • Patent number: 6720498
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical line (L) having at least one electrical conductor (1) enclosed by temperature-resistant insulation (2) which ensures the functionality of the line (1) in case of fire. To minimize the fire load of the line (1), the insulation (2) comprises at least one multifilament thread (3) made of glass which is wound around the conductor (1) and whose windings are contiguous so as to create a completely closed sleeve (4) for the conductor (1). A thin protective layer (5) of a halogen-free, temperature-resistant insulation material is applied all over the sleeve (4).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 2003
Date of Patent: April 13, 2004
    Assignee: Nexans
Inventors: Ferdinand Grögl, Uwe Marx, Joachim Uttinger, Thomas Mann

  • Publication number: 20030029628
Abstract: An electrical line (L) with at least one electrical conductor (1) surrounded by an insulation (2) in which a braid (4) of metallic wires serving for electrical shielding is disposed over the insulation (2), and a jacket (6) of an insulating material is applied over the braid (4). To produce a shield that is effective even at very high frequencies, the insulation (2), which is made of a heat-resistant material, is first covered all around with a closed metallic sheath (3) produced by vapor deposition. The braid (4) is then applied to the sheath (3) in direct contact therewith and, in addition, the braid (4) is covered all around with a metallic coating (5) produced in a coating process.
