  • Patent number: 4644836
Abstract: A punch press has a vertically reciprocating plunger, and a die punch exchangeably secured at the plunger by means of a tool exchange device. The die punch has a die head, and the tool exchange device has an exchange insert with guide elements, and a retainer for the die head. The exchange insert is mountable in a holding annulus having guide elements which correspond complementary to the guide elements of the exchange insert. The die punch can be clamped by way of a clamping device against an abutment bearing. The abutment bearing is formed at the bottom side of a piston which is positively connected to the plunger. The piston forms part of the clamping device and has a shoulder surrounded at least over the extent thereof by the cylinder of a cylinder chamber of the clamping device and formed by a holding annulus. The holding annulus, in turn, is vertically adjustably connectable to the plunger by at least one reset spring and at least one guide rod.

  • Patent number: 4457197
Abstract: A device for cutting or stamping metal bars and sections comprising a machine frame having a slide which is guided for movement in a frame and which is driven in the direction of its length by an hydraulic or pneumatic drive which applies a driving force substantially along the longitudinal center line of the slide, a pair of tools one of which is connected to the machine frame, the other being carried by the slide, said pair of tools being laterally offset relatively to the line of application of the driving force, and the machine frame being provided with laterally spaced guides both above and below the tools for guiding said movement of the slide. An additional force is applied to the slide to oppose the torque which in use will be generated by the force couple which is formed by the aforesaid driving force applied by the hydraulic or pneumatic drive and the cutting or stamping reaction force which will be developed in use by the pair of tools.

  • Patent number: 4339972
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the accurate volumetric subdivision of conveyed bar-shaped material such as bar steel or billets, using measurements of the bar's cross-sectional area.

  • Patent number: 4319504
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for damping a billet shears assembly and includes a damping cylinder and piston mounted to the stationary portion of the assembly opposite the moving shear blade. The damping piston defines a control cylinder and the base of the damping cylinder carries a control piston adjustably fixed in the control cylinder in axial alignment with the damping piston over the entire stroke distance. A pneumatic fluid supply line in the control piston connects the damping cylinder with the control cylinder and is provided with a non-return valve.

  • Patent number: 4238718
Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing sections of accurate weight or volume which includes the providing of a computer which receives various signals including the length, weight and density of a sheared off section and in response to such conditions varies the position of a length stop to insure that sections of accurate weight and volume are continuously obtained. The length stop mechanism is regulated by controlling the movement of a plurality of clamping devices which operate in conjunction with the axial movement of the material to be severed. The clamping devices are hydraulically operated.

  • Patent number: 4033571
Abstract: A positioning arrangement for an element, such as an abutment of an industrial cutting machine, which is mounted on an elongated rail for movement longitudinally thereof, includes a toothed portion rigid with and extending longitudinally of the elongated rail, and an arresting member having serrations which are adapted to matingly engage with the toothed portion in a plurality of positions. The arresting member is mounted on the element for displacement toward and away from the toothed portion, and also for limited movement relative to the element longitudinally of the elongated rail. The arresting member has two opposite lateral surfaces which diverge toward the toothed portion, and a pair of wedge members is provided, each of the wedge members having a wedge surface adapted to contact the lateral surface of the arresting member, the wedge members being mounted on the element for independent displacement toward and away from the toothed portion.
