  • Publication number: 20240042569
Abstract: A honing strip for use in a honing tool for machining an inner surface of a bore includes a cutting layer carrier that carries, on an outer side, a cutting layer including cutting grains bound within a bond and an abrasive working surface that engages on the inner surface of the bore, wherein the honing strip defines a longitudinal direction (L) to be oriented parallel to a bore axis and the working surface extends in a width direction (B), perpendicular to the longitu-dinal direction, between a first side surface and a second side surface of the cutting layer, and the working surface has a generally convex macroscopic form with at least two macroscopically planar facets of different orientation which transition, along edges running in the longitudinal direction, to an adjacent facet or a side surface.

  • Patent number: 8613645
Abstract: A honing tool comprises a tubular tool body fastened with an end section in a tool shank and a cutting region on an opposite end section with at least one honing-stick accommodating opening. The dimensions of the honing-stick accommodating opening and of the honing stick are matched to one another so that the honing stick is accommodated in a radially movable manner, and essentially free of play in a circumferential direction of the tool body, between boundary surfaces of the honing-stick accommodating opening. A play-compensating device between the honing stick and the honing-stick accommodating opening comprises at least one elastically deformable supporting element which is supported with a pressure force, in a fitted state of the honing stick, on one hand on a side surface of the honing stick and on the other hand on a boundary surface, opposite the side surface, of the honing-stick accommodating opening.

  • Patent number: 6960121
Abstract: In a method for honing a bore having first and second sections sequentially arranged in an axial direction of the bore, wherein the first section is hardened so that the first and second sections have different hardness, a honing tool is radially supported by positioning guides of the honing tool on the second bore section. first section is machined with honing stones arranged on the honing tool to remove material from the first section. During machining of the first section, the honing tool is expanded by feeding the honing stones according to a defined feeding mode against a surface of the first section by a force-guided electro-mechanical advancement. During machining of the first section, the working stroke of the honing tool is adjusted continuously at least toward the end of the honing process. Feeding of the guides is realized independently of feeding of the honing stones.
