  • Publication number: 20220247246
Abstract: A rotor for an electric machine, such as an electric motor, includes a pack of stacked rotor laminations (60). A sheet metal section of the rotor laminations (60) has guide webs (61) and open intermediate spaces (62). Raised areas (63) at the one side of each rotor lamination (60) correspond to indentations at the opposite, other side and form connecting bodies that extend in the axial direction and form-lockingly engage into an adjacent rotor lamination. Radial thrust forces are transferred from one rotor lamination (80) onto the adjacent rotor lamination.

  • Patent number: 11318991
Abstract: A method is for controlling a wheel steering angle of at least one vehicle wheel of a vehicle, in particular of a motor vehicle. The vehicle has a steer-by-wire steering system including at least one wheel steering angle control element, which is provided at least for modifying the wheel steering angle of the vehicle wheel according to a steering demand. In at least one operating mode, in which the vehicle is at a standstill and a steering demand is received, the wheel steering angle of the vehicle wheel is at least substantially maintained at a constant value and a desired wheel steering angle for the vehicle wheel is determined in accordance with the steering demand. In at least one subsequent additional operating mode, in which the vehicle is moving, the wheel steering angle is adjusted to the desired wheel steering angle by the wheel steering angle control element.

  • Patent number: 6816808
Abstract: A method is disclosed to identify peak switching errors in an ultrasonic meter and how to correct for them. The method compares transit time measurements from two chords having different lengths to establish an error value. Depending on the magnitude and sign of the error value, any peak switching error can be identified and consequently corrected.

  • Patent number: 6769293
Abstract: An apparatus and related method for measuring the presence or degree of stratified flow in a two-phase flow is disclosed. A first speed of sound for the fluid flowing through the pipeline is measured for an ultrasonic signal that would reflect from stratified flow, if present. A second speed of sound is measured at a location that would not reflect off the stratified flow. A difference in these two measurements indicates the presence of stratified flow. The level of stratified flow can be determined based on the magnitude of the difference.

  • Patent number: 6651514
Abstract: A measurement system is described that includes a flow conditioner for performing the dual functions of conditioning the flow stream and acting as a check meter to the primary meter. Various flow stream characteristics are calculated from the measured differential pressure across the flow conditioner. These calculated values are compared to measurements made by the primary meter for the purpose of identifying performance or accuracy problems in the measurement equipment.

  • Publication number: 20030101804
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining the amount of surface discontinuity on the interior surface of a pipeline that could result, for example, from corrosion or from dirt and crud buildup. As dirt and other collateral material collect along an interior pipeline wall, or as the pipeline wall corrodes, the flow profile for the gas flow traveling through the pipeline changes. By measuring the ratio of the flow velocity near the interior of the pipeline to that near the perimeter of the pipeline over time, the relative roughness of the inner pipeline surface can be determined.

  • Patent number: 6533065
Abstract: A silencer for use with ultrasonic meters to reduce stray ultrasonic noise that could cause measurement inaccuracies. The silencer comprises a tubular body having at least two baffles spaced apart from one another. The baffles are preferably formed of an open-cell, reticulated metal foam material that absorbs noise in the ultrasonic range of frequencies under high-pressure operating conditions. The silencer is a reasonable flow conditioner and can be mounted directly to the meter without disturbing the flow. The silencer reduces the level of ultrasonic stray noise by absorption. Ultrasonic noise waves are partially reflected between the baffles and along their length as the waves move between baffles. With each reflection, the baffle material absorbs energy that is lost by friction in the pores of the foam material. Through this process of the ultrasonic waves being reflected and the noise being incrementally absorbed, the energy of the ultrasonic wave is attenuated.

A second speed of sound is measured at a location that would not reflect off the stratified flow. A difference in these two measurements indicates the presence of stratified flow. The level of stratified flow can be determined based on the magnitude of the difference. Because this method is so sensitive to changes in the amount of stratified flow, it is more reliable than previously known methods.

  • Patent number: 4083244
Abstract: Apparatus for determining fluid flow, said apparatus comprising flow obstruction means and two heat-emitting members which are mounted in a geometrically symmetrical arrangement in a conduit, the heat-emitting members being subject to the same heat losses when there is no fluid flow through the conduit, the flow obstruction means causing the two heat-emitting members to be differentially affected by the fluid flow through the conduit, and means responsive to the ratio of the heat losses from the two heat-emitting members for determining the said fluid flow.
