  • Patent number: 9776478
Abstract: A sunscreen system includes a control unit and a sunscreen having a first nonplanar glass layer and a nonplanar display layer having a first side and an opposite second side. The first side is adhered to the glass layer. The display layer includes multiple display subareas covering the overall surface of the display layer. Each separate display subarea may be controlled by the control unit to change the subarea's transmittance. A nonplanar design allows integration in a vehicle body and multiple display subareas allows partial area-wise blocking of light. All electronic components can be provided in or adjacent to the sunscreen or be arranged at another location in the vehicle, leading to a flexible design which allows a larger area panoramic roof due to reduction of mechanical components in the roof structure.

  • Patent number: 8944497
Abstract: A side track for a vehicular sun roof comprises a first portion having a longitudinal extension for supporting the sun roof, and a second portion extending side by side, and connected to, at least a part of the first portion. Furthermore, at least a part of the second portion is arranged to pivot in relation to the first portion in order to absorb impact energy from a colliding object. A sun roof arrangement comprising such a side track, and a vehicle comprising such a sun roof arrangement or side track are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20120261953
Abstract: A sunroof for a motor vehicle includes a frame defining a rectangular panel opening and a movable panel. A first flange extends adjacent to at least one edge of the panel opening and is adapted to retain an elongated weather seal in a temporary position in which the seal permits access to the sunroof mechanism necessary to adjust the position of the movable panel during the sunroof installation process. A second flange extends adjacent to and offset from the first flange and is adapted to retain a seal in an installed position in which the seal may restrict access to the sunroof mechanism. The seal is mounted on the first flange prior to installation of the sunroof in the vehicle. Necessary adjustments to the sunroof are made during the installation process, and then the seal is moved on to the second flange after the final installation.

  • Patent number: 6378935
Abstract: Sun-roof apparatus for a vehicle (3) including a sun-roof (5), that is arranged in an opening (4) in the roof (2) of the vehicle (3). A link mechanism (11) connects the sun-roof (5) to the roof (2), and a drainage channel (20) and/or a drainage gutter (26) is arranged at least partly around the opening (4) in the roof (2). In relation to a front and rear portion of the vehicle (3), the sun-roof apparatus has a front element (17), a rear element (18) and two side elements (19). The drainage channel (20) and/or the drainage gutter (26) is arranged in the elements (17, 18, 19). That part of the drainage channel (20) and/or the drainage gutter (26) that is arranged in the side elements (19) is inclined in relation to a horizontal plane so that the depth of the drainage channel (20) and/or the drainage gutter (26) in a first end region (21) of the side element (19) is greater than the depth of the drainage channel (20) and/or the drainage gutter (26) in a second end region (22) of the side element (19).
