  • Publication number: 20210181382
Abstract: According to one or more embodiments described herein, a coated article may comprise: a transparent substrate having a major surface, the major surface comprising a textured or rough surface inducing light scattering; and an optical coating disposed on the major surface of the transparent substrate and forming an air-side surface, the optical coating comprising one or more layers of material, the optical coating having a physical thickness of greater than 300 nm, wherein the coated article exhibits a maximum hardness of about 10 GPa or greater as measured on the air-side surface by a Berkovich Indenter Hardness Test along an indentation depth of about 50 nm or greater.

  • Patent number: 10773495
Abstract: A modular glass panel comprising a glass structure having at least one thin glass sheet having a thickness ranging from about 0.5 mm to about 2.0 mm, a backing frame positioned adjacent the glass structure and situated along the perimeter of the glass structure, and a polymer layer intermediate the glass structure and backing frame to adhere the glass structure together with the backing frame. The glass structure can further comprise the at least one thin glass sheet and a second glass sheet having a polymer interlayer therebetween. The backing frame generally has a geometric cross-section with a rounded interior edge adjacent the glass structure to prevent breakage of the structure upon loading or impact of an exterior surface of the structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2018
Date of Patent: September 15, 2020
    Assignee: CORNING INCORPORATED
Inventors: Gordon Charles Brown, Thomas Michael Cleary, Joan Deanna Gregorski
  • Patent number: 10509307
Abstract: High contrast, glass-based, writeable/erasable front projection screens are provided. The screens include a transparent glass sheet which has a front surface and a back surface separated by a distance d. The back surface is in optical contact with a diffusing element. During use of the projection screen, the glass sheet transmits image light from a projector to the diffusing element and the diffusing element reflects a portion of that light back through the glass sheet to a user. The screens have a user-facing surface that is a writable/erasable surface. In embodiments, the distance d is less than or equal to 0.2 millimeters, the whiteness W of the projection screen is less than or equal to 0.5, and/or the contrast C of the projection screen is at least 75%.

  • Publication number: 20180272659
