    Abstract: The present invention relates to plant enzymes responsible for hydroxylation of abscisic acid, said enzymes capable of 7′- and 8′-hydroxylation of abscisic acid, and polynucleotides encoding the same. The invention further relates to methods for using said polynucleotides to alter plant metabolism, in particular metabolism of abscisic acid. The invention further relates to plants exhibiting altered characteristics as a result of the alteration of abscisic acid metabolism.
