  • Patent number: 5563197
Abstract: A stable dispersion of a finely divided solid such as a pigment in an organosiloxane composition can be prepared as a homogeneous thixotropic liquid, paste or gel by blending the solid with a finely divided, partially treated silica, a specified class of liquid diorganosiloxane/oxyalkylene copolymers and, as a diluent, at least one liquid organosiloxane oligomer having a density lower than the density of the dispersed solid. The gels and pastes convert to flowable liquids when subjected to shearing forces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 2, 1995
Date of Patent: October 8, 1996
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Joan M. Donatelli, Daniel F. McMahon
  • Patent number: 5563210
Abstract: Organosiloxane oligomers wherein at least a portion of the siloxane units contain a silicon-bonded phenyl or phenylalkyl radical are suitable diluents for organosiloxane/oxyalkylene copolymers when these copolymers are used as thixotropic agents in the crosslinking agent portion of multi-part moisture curable organosiloxane compositions.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5442027
Abstract: Low concentrations of a liquid silanol terminated polydiorganosiloxane with a number average molecular weight less than about 1000 extend the working time of tin-catalyzed moisture curable organosiloxane compositions without substantially decreasing the cure rate of the composition or adversely affecting the physical properties of cured materials, particularly elastomers, prepared using these compositions.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5051224
Abstract: There is disclosed a trapped polymer method for molding composite articles at temperatures of at least 535.degree. C., comprising heating to a temperature of at least 535.degree. C. a mold containing a master tool, a pre-preg and a trapped polymer comprising a depolymerization-resistant silicone crumb rubber which is resistant to depolymerization of the polymer backbone at a temperature of at least 535.degree. C. to form and cure said pre-preg into the desired composite member.

  • Patent number: 4973642
Abstract: A silicone crumb rubber having sufficient unreacted vinyl in the silicone crumb rubber polymer chain to prevent depolymerization of the polymer backbone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 1989
Date of Patent: November 27, 1990

  • Patent number: 4360610
Abstract: A new method of producing a silicone rubber composition yields a unique composition. When the composition is further mixed with extending filler and vulcanized, the tensile strength of the vulcanized silicone rubber is improved over that obtained when the composition is not produced following the method of this invention. The method mixes polydiorganosiloxane gum, treated reinforcing silica filler, a portion of hydroxylated organosilicon compound having an average of from 1 to 20 percent by weight hydroxyl radicals and an average of from 1 to 31 percent by weight vinyl radicals; heating the mixture; then cooling and admixing another portion of the hydroxylated organosilicon compound.
