Publication number: 20040241131Abstract: A new moisturizing agent for personal care compositions is provided which is a mono-hydroxy substituted amine salt of a polymer with acid pendant groups. Particularly preferred are dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) salts of the polymer.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2003Publication date: December 2, 2004Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Michael Charles Cheney, Brian John Dobkowski, Joanna Hong Zhang
-
Publication number: 20040202689Abstract: A personal care composition is provided which includes a fragrance formulated with at least one terpenoid ingredient, a malonic acid salt and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The malonic acid salt stabilizes the terpenoids against degradation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2004Publication date: October 14, 2004Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Krishna Kumar Subramanyan, Joseph Raymond Faryniarz, Joanna Hong Zhang
-
Publication number: 20040185074Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes a first amine present as a neutralized counterion salt of a C2-C40 carboxylic acid other than an alpha- or beta-hydroxycarboxylic acid, and a second amine having a molecular weight of at least 100. Use of the second amine serves to suppress any smelly odor which might arise from release of the first amine from its salt form during rub-in on a user's skin.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2003Publication date: September 23, 2004Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Raymond Faryniarz, Joanna Hong Zhang
-
Publication number: 20040185073Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes as an active material a salt of malonic acid in a cosmetically acceptable carrier, wherein the composition exhibits a Flexibility Value greater than 1 according to the Porcine Skin Test.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2003Publication date: September 23, 2004Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Raymond Faryniarz, Philip Edward Miner, Michael Charles Cheney, Joanna Hong Zhang
-
Publication number: 20040185015Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes an organic sunscreen agent and at least one salt of a malonic acid. The malonate salt inhibits discoloration which may arise from the presence of the sunscreen agent. Of particular concern in forming color bodies is 4,4′-t-butyl-methoxydibenzoylmethane.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2003Publication date: September 23, 2004Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Joanna Hong Zhang, Joseph Raymond Faryniarz, Michael Charles Cheney

Patent number: 6551603Abstract: A cosmetic sea salt scrub is provided which includes sodium sesquicarbonate and an oil. Sodium sesquicarbonate ordinarily is the major salt present and amounts of this salt relative to the oil may range from about 20:1 to about 5:1 by weight. Mineral oil is particularly preferred as the oil phase. Salt scrubs according to this invention are relatively uniform in composition, easily dispensed from a jar and spread uniformly on the skin.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2000Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Paul Vinski, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Joanna Hong Zhang, Brian Andrew Crotty

Patent number: 6451331Abstract: A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a sachet, at least one wall of the sachet including at least one pleat. The presence of pleats allows expansion room within the sachet to accommodate effervescent action. It also results in an ergonomically pleasant pillow configuration. Advantageously, the sachet is formed of two sheets with the second sheet being relatively more rigid than the first sheet and non-pleated which permits easier graspability by a user's hand. Additionally, at least one of the sheets should be water permeable. In a preferred embodiment, the effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2000Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Joanna Hong Zhang, Alexander Paul Znaiden
