  • Publication number: 20040185015
Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes an organic sunscreen agent and at least one salt of a malonic acid. The malonate salt inhibits discoloration which may arise from the presence of the sunscreen agent. Of particular concern in forming color bodies is 4,4′-t-butyl-methoxydibenzoylmethane.

  • Patent number: 6551603
Abstract: A cosmetic sea salt scrub is provided which includes sodium sesquicarbonate and an oil. Sodium sesquicarbonate ordinarily is the major salt present and amounts of this salt relative to the oil may range from about 20:1 to about 5:1 by weight. Mineral oil is particularly preferred as the oil phase. Salt scrubs according to this invention are relatively uniform in composition, easily dispensed from a jar and spread uniformly on the skin.

  • Patent number: 6495123
Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes an organic sunscreen agent, a water-insoluble polymeric powder of porous particles, and an aqueous system wherein pH is less than 7. The porous particles remove the tackiness normally associated with organic sunscreen agents and low pH systems thereby providing a resultant composition of excellent skinfeel.

  • Patent number: 6451331
Abstract: A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a sachet, at least one wall of the sachet including at least one pleat. The presence of pleats allows expansion room within the sachet to accommodate effervescent action. It also results in an ergonomically pleasant pillow configuration. Advantageously, the sachet is formed of two sheets with the second sheet being relatively more rigid than the first sheet and non-pleated which permits easier graspability by a user's hand. Additionally, at least one of the sheets should be water permeable. In a preferred embodiment, the effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition.
