  • Patent number: 9699694
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and a computer program products for Mobility Management Entity (MME) triggered detach and re-attach to a specific target MME are provided. One method includes receiving or obtaining a trigger to move a UE attached to a source MME to another target MME. The receiving of the trigger may cause the initiating of a GUTI reallocation command towards the UE in which the MME code (MMEC) specifies the target MME and the M-TMSI is set to a reserved value. The method may further include receiving a GUTI reallocation complete message from the UE, sending a detach request to the UE with a detach type of “re-attach required,” and receiving a detach accept message from the UE. The new attach request initiated by the UE is then directed towards the target MME.

  • Publication number: 20160165431
Abstract: It is provided a method, comprising monitoring whether an apparatus will perform a first mobility procedure from a first network of a first radio access technology to a first other network of a second radio access technology; storing an old identifier, wherein the old identifier identifies a first network element of the first network to which the apparatus is registered before the first mobility procedure starts; monitoring whether the apparatus performs a second mobility procedure from a second other network of a third radio access technology to a second network of the first technology; retrieving the stored old identifier; providing a mapped identifier and the retrieved old identifier to a base station of the second network when the apparatus performs the second mobility procedure, wherein the mapped identifier is based on an identification of a part of the second other network to which the apparatus is registered.

  • Publication number: 20160037421
Abstract: There is provided a mechanism for executing a handover for a subscriber between mobility management entities for load balancing reasons. A current mobility management entity sends (S10) a handover trigger message to a communication network control element like an eNB for indicating a relocation to the current cell and tracking area of the subscriber. The eNB starts (S20) a handover procedure to itself and sends (S30) a handover required message to the current mobility measurement entity. The current mobility measurement entity continues a handover procedure of a connection for the at least one subscriber from the current mobility management entity to a new mobility management entity, wherein the new mobility management entity is selectable (S40) at the current mobility management entity. The handover procedure can be modified in comparison to a default handover procedure by modifying and/or omitting handover related signaling.

The current mobility measurement entity continues (S50) a handover procedure of a connection for the at least one subscriber from the current mobility management entity to a new mobility management entity, wherein the new mobility management entity is selectable (S40) at the current mobility management entity. After the handover is completed, the new mobility management entity initiates (S60) a location update at a home subscriber server and reallocates the subscriber's UE a new temporary identity and a tracking area list.

  • Publication number: 20150373527
Abstract: In certain communication systems, such as wireless communication systems, there may be benefit to knowing a user equipment's registration status. For example, there may be benefit to observing a user equipment's registration status via a home subscriber server, including whether the user equipment is attached/detached. The communication system may be for example, a long term evolution (LTE) of the third generation partnership project (3GPP). A method can include determining, in a mobility node, that a user equipment is currently deregistered. The method can also include notifying a subscriber server that the user equipment is currently deregistered, responsive to the determination that the user equipment is currently deregistered.

  • Patent number: 9167413
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, apparatus, and computer program product for providing access via a cellular access network to a packet data net-work, wherein control plane functions of a gateway device of a core net-work are emulated to the core network, and the emulated control plane functions are used to provide to the core network a set of parameters for local breakout.
