  • Publication number: 20050263923
Abstract: A metal alloy in particulate form is plasma flame sprayed into an appropriately shaped depression 12 in a mould 10, so as to produce a coating test piece in a desired shape. The walls of the mould serve to constrain the affects of residual stresses generated by the combining of molten and semi molten particles, and so as a test piece results which is a more integral, self supporting structure than those produced hitherto.

  • Publication number: 20050214505
Abstract: A compressor blade (30) comprises a vibration damping coating (54) on a first surface of at least one portion of an erosion resistant material (56). The vibration damping coating (54) comprises a plurality of segments (58). The portion of erosion resistant material (56) and the vibration damping coating (54) are adhesively bonded to the compressor blade (30) such that the vibration damping coating (54) is arranged between the surface (50) of the compressor blade (30) and the portion of erosion resistant material (56).
