    Abstract: Alpha, beta unsaturated nitriles are prepared from olefins by reaction thereof with ammonia and oxygen, in the gas phase and in the presence of a novel catalyst system consisting of the elements cerium, tellurium, molybdenum, of at least one of the elements selected from the group comprising iron, chromium and aluminium, and moreover of oxygen chemically combined with the above cited elements.
