  • Patent number: 7264452
Abstract: Improved rotor position control for rotary machines allows for positioning mechanisms which are more compact, relative to the stroke of the machine. A crank having a center shaft which extends through the rotor chamber is rotatably mounted in a forward in wall of the chamber. An eccentric shaft of the crank is rotatably mounted by the rotor and is aligned with rotor axis. A stationary gear extends into the rotor chamber and is rigidly mounted in a forward in wall of the chamber. A crank web is connected to the center shaft rearward of the stationary gear. The eccentric shaft passes through the rotor gear and is connected to the crank web forward of the rotor gear. The rotor gear has a pitch radius greater than that of the stationary gear by a ratio of the number of lobes of the rotor divided by the number of lobes minus one.

  • Patent number: 6926505
Abstract: Two or more slidably mounted seals of radially orientation are provided in a rotary machine. One of the slidably mounted seals can be selectably retractable to perform a valving operation with respect to a rotor mounted for eccentric rotary motion within the machine.

  • Patent number: 6799955
Abstract: A rotary machine including a housing with spaced apart end walls defining a chamber. A two-lobe lenticular rotor assembly is disposed in the chamber for eccentric rotation therein. A hole passes through a central portion of the rotor assembly. Slots are cut in one end of the rotor assembly about the center of the rotor assembly. A rotor guide assembly includes generally cylindrical guideposts which extend parallel toward the slots and engage in eccentric rotation of the slots. A shaft extends through the center of the hole. In one embodiment an even number of six or more spaced slots and half that number of guideposts spaced around the shaft are used which allows for a larger sized hole and shaft. In another embodiment, four slots which are shifted toward the apices of the rotor, and two guideposts are used, which also allows for a larger sized hole and shaft.

  • Patent number: 5393208
Abstract: A rotary machine includes a housing with spaced apart end walls for defining a chamber. A two-lobe lenticular rotor assembly is disposed in the chamber for eccentric rotation therein. A hole passes through a central portion of the rotor assembly. Four slots are cut in one end of the rotor assembly in a symmetric arrangement about the center of the rotor assembly. Each slot has two edges defining an open end continuous with the hole so that each slot extends radially outward from the hole. A rotor guide assembly includes two generally cylindrical guide posts of radius R. Each guide post extends in parallel fashion toward the slots in the rotor assembly so that the guide posts can engage the slots during eccentric rotation of the rotor assembly. A shaft extends through the hole with its center longitudinal axis offset from the center of the rotor assembly by an offset distance OD.
