  • Publication number: 20070275669
Abstract: Transmitters (116) for transmitting information and receivers (126) for receiving the information are defined by the information comprising a primary message and a secondary message combined in a same transmission or a same reception, which primary and secondary messages comprise communication protocol signaling messages, to avoid that a protocol conversion arrangement needs to be added to and to be placed between the transmitter (116) and the receiver (126). This increases the efficiency of the transmitter (116) and the receiver (126). The primary and secondary communication protocol messages are in accordance with first and second standards such as 802.11 a and later standards such as 802.11 n. The receiver (126) is able to detect the primary or secondary communication protocol message in case of the receiver (126) being in accordance with the first or second standard.

  • Publication number: 20070071330
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and apparatus for matching a query data object with a candidate data object by esetracting and comparing fingerprints of said data objects. In an embodiment of the invention apparatus comprising a fingerprint extraction module (110), a fingerprint matching module (210), a statistical module (120) and an identification module is provided. The fingerprint extraction module (110) receives an information signal forming part of a query object and constructs a query fingerprint. The fingerprint matching module (210) compares the query fingerprint to candidates stored in a database (215) to find at least on potentially best matching candidate. Meanwhile, the statistical module determines a statistical model of the query fingerprint so as to, for instance, determine the statistical distribution of certain information inside the query fingerprint.

  • Publication number: 20060190776
Abstract: This invention relates to a device and a method of relating one or more trigger actions with a multimedia signal and corresponding method and device for detecting one or more trigger actions in a multimedia signal. One fingerprint is generated on the basis of a segment of the multimedia signal at each trigger time point. The generated fingerprint(s) is stored in a database and communicated to playback devices. During playback fingerprints of the multimedia signal are generated and matched against fingerprints in the database. When a match is found, associated trigger actions is retrieved. The trigger time point is determined as a time point near or at a segment of the multimedia signal that caused a fingerprint to match. In this way, a simple and reliable way of detecting trigger markers for trigger actions is enabled without modifying the multimedia signal.

  • Publication number: 20060126887
Abstract: Watermark-detection in the graphics card of a personal computer, for the purpose of copy-protection, has recently started to draw a lot of attention in standardization. Detection in the graphics card has problems completely different from the formerly considered detection in the DVD-drive, having to do with high data-rates, large scale-ranges and presence of multiple video-streams in the display area This invention proposes examining (36) the video signal being generated by the computer system to locate image areas in which the video signal changes from frame to frame, and defining (37) a bounding box around said image areas and considering an area of interest this found as being a window in which an application is running. After approriate scale conversion (32), conventional watermark detection (31) is subsequently applied to said window. This prevents hackers from rendering illegal contents in one window while playing back a compliant disk in the DVD drive (10).

Abstract: Watermark-detection in the graphics card of a personal computer, for the purpose of copy-protection, has recently started to draw a lot of attention in standardization. Detection in the graphics card has problems completely different from the formerly considered detection in the DVD-drive, having to do with high data-rates, large scale-ranges and presence of multiple video-streams in the display area. This invention proposes conversion (32) of the computer's RGB output into a luminance signal (Y) prior to watermark detection by a conventional watermark detector (31) being arranged to detect the watermark in a such a luminance signal. The resolution of the monitor image to be inspected is preferably converted (33) to the conventional TV resolution of the (MPEG2-compressed) contents being played back on the computer's DVD drive. In graphic cards providing multiple outputs (VGA, TV, DVI), the same watermark detector may be time-sequentiall connected (34) to each of the outputs.

  • Publication number: 20050120220
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of embedding a watermark pattern with a payload in a time dependent information signal, comprising the steps of determining a number of robust signatures in the information signal, creating the payload being dependent of at least one of the number of robust signatures and a predefined message, embedding the watermark pattern according to the payload in the information signal. The invention also relates to a corresponding method and arrangement for detecting a watermark pattern in an information signal.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and an arrangement for embedding a watermark pattern in an information signal. A method of embedding a watermark pattern in an information signal comprising the steps of determining a robust signature as a set of robust features in said information signal, creating a watermark pattern as a signature dependent function of a predefined basic watermark pattern and embedding said watermark pattern in said information signal. The invention also relates to a corresponding method and arrangement for detecting a watermark pattern in an information signal.
